I don't know if I am pregnant, but if I were to take 'the pill' and I was pregnant, would that harm the baby? I stopped taking the pill after my last period which was Sept. 12. I felt like my husband and shouldn't prevent getting pregnant and let the Will of God happen...does that make sense? Well, my husband doesn't think the time is right and wants me to go back on the pill. I take that new chewable one, FemCon Fe. I was supposed to start this past Wednesday, but I haven't. I've been pregnant before, so I know how that feels. I also know that every woman and pregnancy for that woman is different. I'm feeling very frustrated at the moment about a lot of things. I had really bad experience with OB/GYN's last pregnancy, I didn't have a positive pee on a stick test until I was 12 weeks last time. I have very mixed feelings about everything right now. But my main question is if I take the pill and I am pregnant, will it harm the baby/fetus?

Hi Myndie,

Although the packet insert of the "pill" states all of these incredible problems that occur...the reality is that many people have gotten pregnant while on the pill and no significant increase in fetal abnormalities have been observed. Hang in there Myndie, things will be Ok, and we hope this Ob/Gyn experience you have will be better than your last and our community is here to help and support and for you to find information. So, eventhough I haven't started my period, can I go ahead and start a new pack tomorrow? Honestly, I get very anxious thinking about going to/finding a new OB/GYN.

This is not the usual recommendation Myndie, and in reality, you should wait for your period to arrive first or have a period be induced with Provera to make sure you're not pregnant. Once you get your period, then starting the pill is the way to go. Good luck, and keep us posted...

Well, since I don't feel a bit pregnant, I'm going to start taking the pill again. I'm guessing stress was the factor of not having my period. Thanks for your advice. You are always very helpful.

Did you say that your HPTs didn't show you were pregnant last time until 3 months along!!! That's crazy. It actually gives me some hope. You see my husband and I are trying like crazy to have a baby and I should have gotten my period last Sunday, however I didn't! I don't have any signs of being pregnant, and I have been taking a pregnancy test every day for the past 2 weeks, and they have all been negative. So you think I could still have a baby in the oven??!! Did you feel as if you were pregnant?

When I was pregnant last year, I knew I was pregnant at about 5 weeks. Everything just felt different. I went into the doctor eventhough I didn't have a positive HPT. She said I wasn't, wouldn't send me to get an ultrasound. I finally got a positive HPT at 12 weeks, but it was ectopic.

Well, have you been to the doctor to find out why you haven't started your period? You never know, you could be. Good luck and let me know.

I went to the Dr. today to do a blood test. I won't have the results until tomorrow. I'm assuming that I didn't start my period because I have PCOS. You said you were 5 weeks along? 5 weeks from what though? The first day you started your period? And what exactly is an eptomic pregnancy? Is that why you kept testing negative?

An ectopic by definition is a pregnancy outside of the uterus. Mine was in my left tube. I have no idea why I kept tesing negative. I have spoken to other woman who had an ectopic who got positive HPT early into their pregnancy. It was closer to 6 weeks from the first day of my last period..I think. I'd have to look at my calender, which is put away. I know the day I conceived because it was our wedding day and we did not have sex before we were married. August 4, I went into the OB/GYN on September 6. She talked to me like I was crazy, but I knew I was pregnant. It wasn't until I went in at 13 weeks with excruciating pain and a positive test. That seems to be the only way they will listen to you. If you have a stupid positive pregnancy pee on a stick test. Sorry, I really hate those things. You don't want to get me started on that!! :)

That's crazy! My husband and I were married on 8/4/2007! I went to the Dr. today for a blood test. I am suppossed to get my results tomorrow in the AM!! Please keep your fingers crossed, I would give anything to have a baby!
