Hey hope! I am interested to see what Dr. Q says about this, but it makes sense that it could happen that way, just because of all the craziness that goes on with our hormones during pregnancy, and then after....
periods after delivery

So, I had my bleeding similar to full flow period 12 days ago. I dont breast feed anymore and I got the bleeding about 2 weeks after stopping B/F completely.
My question is have you seen Dr Q, any of your patients, that had bleeding like AF 10 W PP and then didnt ovulate for months together assuming all other influencing factors like weight gain, stress etc are negligible? Can pregnancy cause one random period and then it disappears and arrives at its own will months later?

Thank you Hope for your concern as it was a "good shake" we got here in LA...
There can be a little delay in ovulation right after b/f, but it usually shouldn't be too long...
Once AF arrives, most all patients will ovulate around the same time frame as expected...If ovulation doesn't occur after about 45days and there's a little extra weight left over...maybe PCOS taking affect...assuming that it's not a normal mild Prolactin elevation that's keeping ovulation from occurring
