Hi Sarah,

There are many reasons why women don't have periods outside of pregnancy, but can tell you, if you don't get periods, you're most likely not going to get pregnant...(why you're doc told you not to worry baffles me)

We must first find out why you're not having periods and this requires several blood tests or taking hormones, any RE can perform this kind of work-up. If you're not having periods because of PCOS, then an endometrial biopsy would be indicated. Some women are simply very athletic (such as runners) and they don't get periods, these would require injections to get pregnant or at least be on birth control pills to try and protect your bones. In any case, you should consult an RE so that we can run all the appropriate tests to help you out.

Women need to have to periods as I tell my patients for their health except under one condition, When They're Taking Some Types of Birth Control Methods.
