period acting funky??

hey doc,

ever since i have had my period(at age 13) my periods have been regular.me and my hubby have been ttc for about 5 months now with no pervail. The last two months my period comes like it is suppose to-amd then when it suppose to come off it comes back, i mean have period pains and everything and i bleed worse than i do on my first few days and i also pass big clots-sorry too much info!!!is this why me and my hubby aren't conceiving??i am worried-i have one son already so i have been pregnant.

Hi Jennifer,

This may mean that you most likely have some spotting a few days before your period, because by definition, your period begins the first day you have full flow. You can always confirm by purchasing on OPK and finding out when you ovulate (you usually do the day after it's positive) and if you're not pregnant, you will get this full flow about 14 days afterwards. By purchasing an OPK, you can make sure you time things correctly to have sperm there waiting for the egg. By doing this, I think you're going to be Ok and your prognosis remains exceptionally good. If you see that there's alot of bleeding before your actual period, you may benefit by supplementing with Progesterone after ovulation.
