Pericentric inversion of chromosome 9

August 05, 2008

I have 3 normal healthy pregnancies which have been followed by 3 miscarriages (first trimester). I am now 4 weeks pregnant and found out today that I have a pericentric inversion of one chromosome 9. I did not feel reassured by my doctor. Also I had nausea throughout the first trimester in all 3 of my normal pregnancies. I had none, including no other pregnancy symptoms (besides a missed period) in the pregnancies that ended in miscarriage. I know it is not a guarentee of a healthy pregnancy but I am feeling nausea as well as other symptoms with this pregnancy. My doctor informed me that it is basically a waiting game and nothing can be done for now.

Is there any advice you can give me or lead me to?

Welcome to FertilityTies Praying!

True, there is nothing that can be done at this point, and unfortunately you can either ttc naturally and play the "odds" game hoping that one will stick and be normal...

The other option you may have is to undergo IVF + PGD to determine normal embryos and these can be trasnferred back into your uterus to decrease the possibility of miscarriage...although this last option comes at an increased cost of >US$10,000
