Pelvic rest for 6 weeks after delivery

If one tore after a vaginal delivery or had an episiotomy, these tears need time to heal, and there's a small possibility that BD may reopen these wounds...this is one of the main reasons...

I see...what if I didn't tear or had an episiotomy? Will sex be safe after the lochia is gone?

I can tell u that I didnt tear with any of mine (I have had 5) and we bd'd within 2-3 weeks after all of them and were fine! I just would say,,if it hurts don't do it!

Thanks, Chrissy! Were you still bleeding when you did it? How long did you bleeding last after delivery? I thought mine will end last weekend because the flow wasn't heavy anymore, and the color was more brownish now than bright red. But last night, the flow came back. It's not heavy, but it went back to bright red blood.

Lex, my bleeding stopped after 3 wks but before that I too thought i was done bleeding then a day later it would start over again.

Chrissy, you're so lucky to have short bleeding. When my bleeding almost subsided last weekend, I just wore pantiliners. We went to a park last Sunday for a walk and to enjoy the nice weather, then when I got back home that night, I started to bleed heavy again. I have a feeling the walk triggered it. I'm back to using maternity pads again now. Ugh! Are you completely over with your bleeding, Sarah?

I miss BD a lot, esp. now that my big belly is finally gone. I still don't feel sexy (hahaha!), but that doesn't matter. The lack of sleep by itself will help me lose those excess baby pounds. I can't wait to start exercising.

Yep bleeding is completely gone as of week3!!! Now just waiting on the 6wks post pardum check up :)
