PCT minus Ovulation

December 07, 2007

Dr. Q here is my question. My RE ordered a PCT for Tuesday. Everything that I have read says it should be done around ovulation time. Well, since I don't ovulate regularly because of PCOS why would they even make me go through this test. Are they assuming my body will be preparing to ovulate even if it doesn't happen? Just curious.

I seldome (although I do on occasion)encounter REs who perform this test as it's diagnostic value is questionable...

You're correct, if this test is going to be performed, it should be done with the ewcm noted just prior to ovulation...but again..don't want to make any assumptions nor do I know your clinical situation...just giving info and can ask your doc more about this..
