I am a 21 year old married woman I am trying to conceive but it is very hard I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome at 19 how can I cope with this syndrome

well, its not easy to deal with when learing this at a young age, or any age....but ive been in the same sittuation as you...i was 18 when i was told i had PCOS...but my doc put me on mediformin, and it worked for me...im actuley going to have my baby this friday..

but most women goes on mediformin or another drug, im not shure of the name, but i know alot of women on here have been on it..

dont give up on having kids...and good luck!

I would advise you to get a good dr that specialists in PCOS, if you have weight issues loss the weight, also see if there is a PCOS support group in your dr, also have a healthy lifestyle both you and your partner, get on some vitamins and including folic acid (that also is for you parnter)and get yourself educated with PCOS and the treatments that are out there. Take care of your care and your body. Ask questions and research...also use this site to do your research and educate yourself also and other sites. There are loads of women that have PCOS and that are in your situation. good luck and keep us posted

about metformin...If your trying to get preggo, ask ur Dr abt combining Clomid with Metformin. metformin alone does not have good success rates with pregnancy. Metformin's effect takes atleast 3 months or so to show up. So, talk to ur Dr abt clomid to help u ovulate. Also, metformin does not cause weight loss, as in its not a weightloss pill. The side effects like nausea, loose Bowel mvts uneasy stomach etc that makes u not wanna eat a whole lot and that triggers weight loss

Unfortunately PCOS is a chronic metabolic syndrome for which there is no cure. Sometimes weight loss can improve the symptoms, but if that weight threshold is regained then it will revert back to previous condition. The best way to attempt conception is clomid, to begin with. I would try this for three months then if this does not work then consider injectable gonadotropins or IVF.
