i went to my re and he told me my menstruation problems were classic for pcos, but i dont have any of the other symptoms that goes along with it. he did a ultrasound and my ovaries are normal and none polycystic. so is there another disorder than shows menstruation problems like pocs, and is normal ovaries a good sign that i dont have pcos?

In actuality, PCO looking ovaries is what we in the RE field consider the poorest of all 3 criteria in determining PCOS. The classic PCOS patient will have similar menstrual problems and elevated blood levels of male hormones and/or increased hair growth. PCOS is one of the most common disorders in our population, believe it or not and see, diagnose, and treat many patients every day.

Other conditions that may cause menstrual abnormalities that are not as common in reproductive age women that may cause ovulation problems would be congenital adrenal hyperplasia (looks just like PCOS), elevated Prolactin levels, thyroid problems, diminished ovarian reserve. You would need further blood work to determine these conditions
