Hi,

is is possible not to ovulate? because when i was talking contreceptive pill i remember ovulating, now i have come off the tablets i don't see anything. and i am having trouble falling pregnant. Is there something wrong?

Its very very possible to not be ovulating. If you arent getting a regular period then you probably arent ovulating.

While on the pill you don’t ovulate and it may take some time for your body to return to “normal”

how long have you been off the pill, how long were you on the pill, how old are you and do you get a period every month?

hi Chels,

I am 36 years old, have 26 - 28 day cycle, i have been off the pill for 6mths now and was on the pill for around 3 years.

if you are getting a period then you are ovulating so that is a good thing. with your age you may not ovulate a good egg each month tho. I would look into taking clomid or femera to help you to ovulate more eggs each month.

Do you temp or use ovulation test to pin point your most fertile days?

I have been using the ovulation tests and im sure one of the times i tested i had a faint line there but no evidence that i was ovulating and we did what we had to on those days but nothing yet. Maybe i should get a sperm analysis done on my husband, it could be him with the problem lol.

those tests are sooo hard to read as far as + goes, i only got a real + twice in lotsa months of testing.

A SA is a great idea but talk to your doc about temping to make sure you are ovulating but with a regular period they will most likely say you are.

40% of couples who had fertility issues are male factors.

And each month a woman 35 and under only have a 25% chance of getting pregnant with having sex on the most fertile days. Its such a crappy % I think! Lol!

Are you not wanting to go on any meds to help out? Do you have any children or does your DH have any children?

yes i just finished my period today and i am going to see a doc soon, regarding my ovulation coz i don't have a good chance of conceiving at this age, i do want to go on medication if it is going to get me pregnant of course! lol anything helps. If you want to read my profile it has everything there regarding my life.

Thanks Chels.

Im on injectables and going thru another round of IVF and had 2 IUI's already.

I would deff talk to the doc about getting on injectbles or trying femera 1st. Find out if your insurance covers infertility and then you could go right to an RE instead of messing around with your OB.

Lotsa luck to you!!

thanks Chels, my insurance covers this and i would get a referal to a specialist. How long have you and your husband been trying for? and what have your doctors been saying to you as to why you havent coceived yet if you have been through so much already. My sister in law has just had the doctors taking her eggs and implanting from the sperm, im not sure what the procedure is called but first time she had it done she miscarried and second time around she is pregnant again but i am hoping and praying that this little one will keep going.

its just a year now but we went to see the RE 3 months into trying cuz i just had a bad feeling about everything. We got preggo on our own that cycle (4th month of trying) and lost the baby at 5.5 weeks and havnt had any luck as of yet.

They said my Dh has a morphology issue but that it shouldnt make a difference cuz its not all that bad and esp when i am doing IUI and IVF shouldnt matter at all sicne his good sperm have more eggs to choose from lol!

Your sister is going thru IVF like me. I hope all turns out for her, its a hard thing to go thru.

I have 2 kids from a previous marriage as well and had no issues getting preggo and keeping the pregnancy with them, however, i was 10 years younger at that point!

im sorry to hear that all you have been through, it must get to be a bit of a downer after time, but there is always hope for all of us. we have some things in common. but like you said we are getting older not younger unfortunately, but hey,if 50 year old women can fall pregnant and have a baby at age there is still hope lol. I think the more we stress over it the harder it becomes, so try and keep yourself busy with your family, activities, try a new hobby, and remember laughter is the best medicine. Try not to think about trying too much, and enjoy your life.

I think sometimes that God is waiting to give us the best, that is why we have to wait a little longer :))))))

Take care chels & best wishes to you and your husband.
