Ovidrel Shot and Period

July 15, 2008

I am going thru the steps to be a gestational carrier for my sister. I am on Lupron, and my estradiol was high at my IVF baseline appt, and it would not come down in subsequent appts. My dr. had me to the ovidrel shot to trigger ovulation so I would get my period. It has been 12 days since my ovidrel shot, and still no period. Is this time frame normal (I was told to expect my period in 7-10 days). I am supposed to call the office after 14 days of no period, and what can I expect my next step to be if there is no period?

most of the time you dont ovulate til about 36 hours after the trigger shot and then most ladies get their periods 14 days after ovulation so that would be 15 or 16 days after the shot.

Did they look to make sure you did in fact ovulate?

They will give you an ultrasound to make sure you dont have any cysts in the ovaries and to check our lining and maybe do some blood work to see where you are but wiht a trigger you will ovulate and get your period no later than 15 days after you ovulated.

Well, there are always cases where ladies dont ovulate cuz they didnt have a mature egg but i assume if you are a candidate for this that you have a regular period each month?

I just went thru 2 IVF's - you are wonderful and selfless for doing this for your sister! What a great gift!!!
