ovidrel shot

hello doctor,
iam on 2nd round of clomid 50 mg.on cd 14 i had an u/s and the large follicle i had measures 20.and also on the same day i tested with the opk it shows very faint line.my doctor asked me to take ovidrel shot on that night.i didn't understand one thing.if i wait for one more day then my opk shows +ve.but why did they ask to take the shot.what is the reason.if i didn't took that shot what will happen.i got a doubt whether they have done correct or not.iam confused.i need your help.

Sometimes in the RE field, we docs truly want to "seal the deal". In other words, by giving you the hCG shot, it makes everyone feel better that you should "truly" ovulate. Your body would have done this on it's own, as you saw, it already was beginning to and you would have ovulated on your own most likely anyways...Everything was done appropriately and both ways, doing nothing or taking the shot would have been correct.
