OPKs and BBT Charts - which is correct

June 17, 2008

Hello, looking for some help ladies!!! I have started charting my BBT and also using OPKs, last week I had a + OPK but my fertility friend haven't detected ovulation from my chart! Can someone help - did I ovulate or not!?!?!?! Thanks muchly...

Hi Lynne! Usually the best is OPK's which determines the lh surge. Many women on this site use both (including me) and you usuallly see a increase of morning temps of .2 to .4 with you first morning temps (before you get up, move, or even talk or open you mouth). If you got a +opk you should ovulate within 12 to 36 hrs after the +opk. Then after you ovulate you will see that temp spike that spike is followed the next day after ovulation. Do you have your chart? If so pls copy and paste it and I'll take a look at it and see what is going on.

Hi Lynee yes you ovulated by the rise in your temps. Now keep in mind you can ovulate anytime during the mth. When you get a +opk that means you have a surge lh and about 12 to 36 hrs after that surge you ovulate. I think you are covered...just keep in mind that all couple (healthy) have a 20% to 25% chance each cycle to get covered!!!!

Thanks Angelfish! I have endometreosis and been ttc for a while, just trying to get my head around all of this!! I don't know your journey, but I do wish you lots of Baby dust....

Thank you Lynne...have you got your endometresis looked at to make sure it will not cause any issues for implatation.

Yeah I had lap 2 years ago and they are now trying to check that I am actually ovulating (not for implantation) to make sure that there is no blockages, apparently they don't want to do anything intrusive again for now so I go for blood to check progesterone levels but that's confusing too! Last month my cycle was 45 days so the Dr said to go for blood test day 30, but I was like surely I ovulate before that so maybe they can still check... I don't know!!

But... I should add that before my 45 day cycle I had a 37 day and before that, always 31 days! I was on Zoladex for the endo last year, with last inject 5th July 2007. Before going on Zoladex I was bleeding twice a month heavily...

So totally confused...
