Not ovulating, but regular periods

I have regular periods, but I have not been ovulating. I have been charting my BBT and using OPK and neither of them indicate I'm ovulating. My doctor did an ultrasound and didn't say anything about PCOS. My periods are between 32-35 days and last 2-3 days. Why would I be having regular periods, but not ovulate? Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem as you Sis. My period lasts for about 3 days. It varies also 28 days one month, 30 days next month, etc.I have taken OPK a few months started it different times each month and it never shows I ovulate. My gyno did blood tests on me on the 3rd day of my period and the results showed I dont ovulate. She put me on clomid 50mg. The first month on it she said everything looked fine, i ovulated. The 3rd month of clomid I took an OPK and it showed I didnt ovulate.

Ovulation doesn't = period....I always thought the same thing, too. My cycles are consistently 35-39 days and I do not ovulate on my own. My RE said that anything over 32 days is most-likely an anovulatory (no ovulation) cycle.

What we are experiencing is called "breakthrough bleeding" and it occurs when your lining of your uterus still thickens and decides to shed, even though an un-fertilized egg has not implanted. They call it breakthrough bleeding because your "period" means that you ovulated an egg and it implaned in your uterus. It's the same thing, though.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for your answer. If we are TTC is clomid the best option? What do you use to ovulate?

Clomid is the least-invasive, less-expensive, and has a lower risk of multiples. If Clomid makes you ovulate, then YES it is your best option. However, if it doesn't make you ovulate, injectables are an option. I use the injectables and really like them--no side effects.

My doctor said am not ovulating!but I have periods.I have always thought the "egg" when not met "semen", flushed out of the body and that is "periods".Still am not convinced how is it and what is flowing out with blood!.My husband's sperm count is also low.Is IVF is the only option?anyone have any suggestions?
