I am on 2000 mgs of metformin a day and am wondering if I could be ovulating but just not having a period, every month I feel pain on alternating sides of my lower abdomen where my ovaries are but I never get a period, I am wondering if I could possibly get pregnant w/out fertility meds and what you think might be my problem? I have been diagnosed with PCOS but do not have any cysts or blockages in my ovaries. Can you help?

By definition, if you are ovulation, then you must get a period 14 days from ovulation unless you got pregnant.
Metformin by itself has a live birth rate of only about 8% according to a landmark study in the NEJM (please read more on this site) for PCOS patients. I would strongly advise that since it appears you're not ovulating on metformin alone, that you be supplemented with Clomid to help you out.
