no stickyness left in uterus?

October 14, 2008

Dr Q, what is the test taht you run to make sure you have enough of the sticky stuff that is needed for the baby to implant and stick?

My OB talked about it yesterday but we talked for over an hour and a half and i cant remember what it was called or how its done?!?!?

Thanks so much!!

anyone? dr Q? :(

October 14, 2008

sticky stuff? You mean "sticky glue"? :D

No such proven hormone, molecule, protein etc known to us to work...Many substances are being investigated as we speak however

There is an item sold called "embryo glue", most REs don't use it as it's findings are controversial...

Curious to know what this item may be

she was saying that we have something that is in our uterus that helps the baby to stick and she would test to make sure that mine isnt all crappy or not there. I think it waas a test after ovulation to see if there was enoguht there?

Doesnt make any sense, does it?

B-integrin testing

October 14, 2008

doesn't truly make sense as we know that usually implantation problems are primarily due to embryo issues and not so much uterine issues..

Indeed, we know this because people with multiple IVF failures once getting donor embryos get pregnant many times in the first attempt...arguing that the issue in most tends to be embryonic in nature

beta-Integrin is a test performed to check the endometrium to see if one is suspicious if Endometriosis is present...

YES!!! I knew you would know what i was talking about KAN! Thx to you and the doc! lol!

Did you have that done? Did you have a lap done too kan?

October 14, 2008

I know that I have heard of something called an endometrial biopsy. Isn't that a test thats done to check your uterus lining??

October 14, 2008

One problem with B-Integrin is that there is also no known treatment...

One can consider Laparoscopy to check for the endometriosis if present, and treat if present...yet, it's unclear whether doing this will reverse process or whether mild/mod endometriosis is even a factor for infertility

There really isn't beta-integrin one can purchase from a pharmacy for one to take to "replenish" their supply...So in the end, we're left with good information but little that we can do with it :(

So can PGD be used to find the best embryos? Would you recommend this before moving on to donor eggs?

October 14, 2008

we will do the lap before anything but at least if i knew that i couldnt carry a baby i could stop and not go thru m/c anymore, ya know?

Of course that is NOT what i want to be wrong but then we could explore surrogents or adoption :)

Chels, did they not mention PGD to you? I know other women who have had several miscarriages that was able to get preggo from their own eggs through this.

October 14, 2008

my 2nd opinion lady said that would be better. She said she had a patient that had like 30 eggs and did PGD testing on them and ended up with only 3 or 4 that were ok, imlanted them and she got preggo.

Truthfully, I think you should try a hysterscopy instead of a lap. It is less invasive. 2nd, I would really consider PGD.

Hey Kan, what is the difference between a Hysterscopy & Laparoscopy??

I know the procedue & the info a Lap provides, but what is the procedure/info of a Hysterscopy?
