Im cd11. Went to see the "NEW" Dr today. I LOVE Him!!! He listened to everything I had to say. He wrote me a script for Metformin(for general health due to pcos) He did u/s and found right ovary has 6 small follies and left has 2 big ones 1.7 and 1.8, so tomorrow I go back to the office for the trigger, then Friday I go for IUI. Were not going to try injectables just yet, he thinks I have a good chance w/ the iui and trigger sense the clomid does make me O. and as far as the lack of CM and hostile environment , No worries , IUI will bypass all that. Im and very excited but nervous as hell too.

I am having stomach issues, bad. Very nauseas in the mornings (i think it's cause I take 'em at night) and then loose bowels pretty much anytime I eat ANYTHING. But i've been told by my doc that it usually weans off. It gets better day by day. I've been on it just a little over a week, so hopefully by the start of week 3 the side effects will wear off.

shawnee- i am on metformin as well...my only side effects are nausea and being thirsty!! (feels like i am bordering on a UTI sometimes I am so dehydrated!)
I actually am constipated from it though. Apparently it causes loose bowels in most people, but if you have a history of constipation, it will go that way! have fun! :) Its really not that bad!

Just out of curiosity ladies, what exactly does the Metformin help with? Is it the insulin levels? I was always a little confused on that? Does it help you lose weight at all? I read somewhere that someone lost 15-20 pounds after being on Metformin for 2 months. So I was just wondering.

yes akt, it most definitely helps w/ pcos and insulin levels, that's why Im on it! And I have also heard u lose weight from it. Im hoping to drop 25 lbs, I believe my weight is due to the pcos, cuz I eat healthy and good portions. So Im really looking forward to seeing some results. Only bad thing I hear is lose bowels for the 1st coupe of weeks while ur body is adjusting. (maybe thats wear the weight loss comes in LOL)

Yea I know! Didn't u say u had UHC Amanda? If so I would look into it, b/c the website said they covered NOTHING on infertility treatments,I called and it was a whole other story. So it's worth looking into!!

No, I have Blue Cross of Texas.. and i've called, and they cover diagnostic testing.. but nothing after that once you are "diagnosed" with infertility. So basically: they help me none! Only bit of hope is that in 2 years I will be a teacher with the state of South Carolina, and state benefits cover IVF at 80%!
I am doing good; the metformin side effects are starting to wear off. It just took my body a couple of weeks to adjust to it. I started Provera and tommorow night is my last night on it, then hopefully AF will hurry up and get here and then I'll start Femara again. We'll see if the combo of Femara+Metformin was the push my body needed.

Yeah, you know I'm really impatient and get excited, so I would probably test at 12 and 13 and 14 dpo. haha! This is going to be our month!!! I feel it!!!

So my Dr's nurse left me a message today saying that my prog levels were excellent!! I was so excited, but when I called her back they were only a 20, I know that's not bad, but I thought she was gonna say like 70 or something, I have a feeling I am not preg this cycle:( I'm not sure if I will even test and just wait for ugly ol AF to show.

Hey Shawnee! Your progesterone level is definately good! You definately ovulated, but maybe you ovulated a little closer to the 21 day mark which means your body hasn't had time to build up that progesterone. But 20 is still a good number, and if you are preggers (*fingers crossed*) they may just recheck your progesterone and add suppplements if needed!

im only doing the clomid for right now. tamoxifen is suppose to help thicken the lining of my uterus. i will have to ask my doc about femara and see if would consider putting me on that if clomid doesnt work. do you know if i can take clomid for 3 or 4 mths and go straight to femara or do i need a break between them? thanks a bunch
Awww Shawnee, I'm sooo sorry...please don't give up! I promise it will happen! Are you having any symptoms??? I agree with the ladies above, there is always a chance that it may be too early for testing....so you aren't out until AF shows her ugly self, which I hope she doesn't.

Thank u AKT, I just cried after reading ur post.. I'm really trying to stay positive, but it's really hard. Oh AF came:( I called my Dr and told him it's time for the injectables, he called and left me a message saying, he wants to refer me to a "specialist" he doesnt want me to spend a lot of money and not get preg and he would rather me w/ someone who deals w/ infertility day in and day out! I was like WTF??? I just did 3 IUI's w/ u and now tht I want to move on to injec, time to push me along??????? I'm so pist at him!! The Dr he wants me to see is like an hour away, and I can't fford to take alot of time off work driving out there often for u/s etc...I don't know what to do!!! I'm thinking abt looking for injectables on line, I know thts terrible but I don't know what else to do. Am I suppose to just accept that I'm NEVER gonna be a mom? I can't, thinking like that kills me, even tho it might be true........
Oh Shawnee....I'm sooo terribly sorry. My heart aches for you. I can't imagine doing 3 IUI's plus all the previous rounds of clomid and nothing. I hurt every month I get those low progesterones and can't even frickin ovulate!!! I know how you feel and this is sooo frustrating. And now, your doctor wants you to go somewhere else!!! What an ass!! (Excuse my language). But that is just wrong. I mean, why didn't he tell you before that he would refer you somewhere else for injectables??? Please sweetie, don't by the ones offline. You don't know if they are for real or if they are really what they say they are. You want to get them from a pharmacy or your doctor. I know you are desperate and are thinking what will work, but you need to do what will be SAFE for you and work!

I'm okay. CD16 here. I go for a 21 day progesterone level on Friday, 8/8/08. Hoping that's a lucky date for me and praying for high numbers!!!
I'm not sure if I told you , but my FSH level came back at 8.9, so my doc was happy with that. Just means my ovaries aren't menopausal...thank god. So I did 150mg of clomid this time around (4th round) and continuing on the Metformin. I'm actually pretty use to the Metformin, only a few diahrea episodes every now and then.
Did you find that you like the Femera better than clomid? Like did you ovulate with clomid or no? I was just trying to remember why you switched to Femera, so I didn't know if you were just trying something new. Thanks Shawnee!! That's a great day 8/8/08!!! I'm praying for high levels, which I'm not to confident about at this point as I've had neg OPK's. But you never know. I know God has something special in store and I pray that I find out what it is soon. I can't wait until February to see an RE. And thanks for the info on the Femera and Clomid differences. I may try that, but when I asked my OB doc about it, he looked at me like he didn't know what it was...so...lord help me....

Thanks sweetie:) I think it will be ur lucky day for prog. Numbers like 88!!!! I started my last dose of femara today. i will use OPK this cycle too, haven't used them in months and I think I'll try the pre-seed again and just pray!! No trigger no IUI no injectables. Our turn is coming.

Hi Shawnee!! I hope my numbers are that high, but being just 2dpo now, I'm not so sure...haha....but as long as they are greater than what I've usually been getting. I'm praying they are high though!! My DH was so excited that I got a +OPK before CD21 too and he wanted me to do a HPT already....haha...I told him no, and explained to him about the whole implantation at 6-10dpo and earliest I would test is 10dpo....but listen to me, I will probly test at like 9dpo....haha...if my progesterone is good. I'm sooo hoping this is it!!

Hey Shawnee, my level was 6.5 at 2dpo. I talked to my doctor and he was very happy with that and he said I definately ovulated!! SO finally I have confirmation!! whoohoo...I also asked him about repeating the level since I was only 2dpo and a 7-10dpo would be more accurate. He said there was no need to as anything above 5 is good on the scale they use. I was a little worried about that, but at 2dpo and it being 6.5, I'm just praying it keeps going up and if I get a BFP (fingers crossed) then he will redraw it to make sure it's where it's suppose to be :)

I am going to try preseed myself this cycle for the first time. Started prenatals and will continue with OPK's. New approach to BD'ing for me 10 days straight of BD'ing starting today on CD10. This worked for a friend so I am willing to give it a try.

10 days strait huh??? LOL. If nothing at all atleast you'll have fun!!! I would love to give tht a try but lately I have been falling asleep b4 my head hits the pillow!!! Today is cd10, no CM tho, but maybe i try the 10day BD method too and just add a little vegi oil to the mix:) LOL
