My Journey...Excited, Nervous, Anxious, Stressed

May 12, 2008

I really don't know what to post, but maybe letting everyone know may help me on my journey to motherhood.

I'm 26 and I have been with my husband for 7 years and married to him for 6. We have always wanted kids and until 2 years ago we thought that it was possible. We never thought that we would have to deal with any fertility issues, but the more research we did the more we realized that we had a problem. We started going to fertility specialist a year ago and they started me on Clomid, it didn't work, so we took 6 months off. My husband is in the military and it makes it even hard ttc at times when you have to deal with the stress.

February we started back up with the fertility treatment when we both had a break and would could focus on getting preggo 100%. The doctors have found that my husband is good, and that I may have trouble ovulating along with irregular periods could be the problem to our infertility.

We have invested everything we can into getting pregnant I have gone to accupunture and I have had the Mayan abdominal massage. For me it is getting very stressful with all the doctors appointments and shots.

The doctors have decided to do an IUI, but they decided to put it off a month because I had to many mature egg follicals and they didn't want to take the risk of multiples.

At times I feel like I am on a roll coaster ride, one minute I'm on top of the world and the next I'm down in the dumps.

I'm trying to relax and wait for the next cycle to start, both my husband and I have a feeling that the first time we do the IUI it's going to work. Whenever we sense something it 9 times out of 10 it happens so hopefully this is one of those times as well.

I know that a lot of you have gone/are going through this, and I admire all of you for your courage and sacrifice.

I just wanted to share my story, like I know many have you have already done. I wish all of you the best of luck, not matter what it may be.

Hey Cortney, you have come to the right place. So many women here are just like you hoping to be a mom. I have been TTC for 21 months now and this is the only place that makes you feel a little better. Many people have had good luck with an IUI so I know you will too.

Cortney, well you are the first person that I have found on here that is also military! What steps did you have to take to get referred to an RE?

I started with my OB/GYN and told her that I was having trouble getting pregnant, she referred me to an Military Infertility Clinic and I was seen about a week later. From there I was put on meds, took all the proper testing to make sure my tubes were not blocked and then they started me on injectable medicine. Now, I'm waiting to do an IUI. I have found that the military tends to be a little more conservative when it comes to how many mature eggs you have. I have heard that others have had 6-8 and their doctors proceeded with the IUI. I had 8 and the doctor cancelled that cycle so now I have to wait another month. Military doctors I think don't like taking the chance of you have mutliples. I may be wrong but it is just an observation. Let me know if you need anything else.

Ok thanks. I dont have an OB/GYN yet that is military so I dont know if I have to go through my PCP to get one or if I can just call the one they have here and make an appointment. I will try to find out though.

Military dr's are so different then civilian dr's. Im not sure if its because their compassion levels do not exsist or what but they do things totally different then what normal dr's would do!
