My Journey continues....

November 10, 2008

My journey continues with my first appt with the RE today at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. I wasn't overly thrilled. Not disappointed, but not overly thrilled either.

We got to the clinic at 1pm and after tons of paperwork, we finally saw the dr. It wasn't the dr. that we thought we were seeing - rather a dr that works with Dr. Jansen. He began to talk with us like HE was our dr. - all very confusing. Then he said he was going to talk to Dr. Jansen - about 10 min later both him and Dr. Jansen come and and the rest of our appt was dh, myself, and two dr's. One wasn't training or anything, they are both full doctors. It was a little strange.

Then we started to discuss what was going to happen next. They want to give me an HSG and both DH and I are to be tested for chromosomal abnormalities. I also have to do a few other blood tests to test for clotting, etc. The Dr. wants me to go on progesterone when we start trying again and continue on 1 baby asprin daily when we begin TTC again.

So then we went down to lab but had to stop off at the financial office to discuss insurance - where we learned that we need to have written approval from our insurance company for any of these tests prior to doing them - so that will take up to 30 days:( So we were SUPPOSED to get the blood tests and instead we just got out approval faxed to the insurance company.

I still havent gotten a period since my last miscarriage (just over 4 weeks ago) but as soon as I get that hopefully my approvals will have gone through and I can get the HSG done. Grrrr - I absolutely hate all of this.

The dr.'s were nice though. They said that we are not the typical patient as dh and I have had no problem GETTING pregnant - but rather STAYING pregnant.

Hopefully we will get some answers soon.

No Dee - unfortunately its getting worse. I am home sick again today. I went to work yestrday and ended up coming home by 2pm. It was a tough day. I know this is way TMI - but in the AM I am coughing up ugly dark green chunky mucus stuff - I KNOW thats not right!!! I made another appt for today at 2:30. I read that it might be a sign of a bacterial thing in my lungs so hopefully they will give me an antibiotic or something. I still haven't taken the tamiflu because the dr said it wasn't good to take - unless I am running a fever (which I am not). So I dont know what to do. I just feel AWFUL! I keep getting scared that I am hurting the baby with all of the coughing and nose blowing. I cough so hard that I gag almost every time I cough:( I just want to feel better:(

Hope you feel better VERY soon!!!! Good that you are going to Dr...it's important to get checked out. The mucous stuff sounds nasty and I'm sorry about that! :( Sending you get well prayers.

Ry's just 9 weeks from turning 3!!! *whoa* Unreal. I'm on cd16, I think or 15...just waiting :)

Anyway....feel better and take care, KUP on how you are!!!!

I just got from the dr now. They gave me antibiotics and pretty much said its a bacterial thing. Hopefully once I start the antibiotics I will be feeling better. Anything has to feel better than the way I do now!!! They didn't check the h/b or anything. The dr said that coughing can definitely not cause a m/c. Which is good.

They also gave me the n1h1 vaccine. I am so nervous. So in the past week I have gotten the normal flu shot, the n1h1 vaccine, taken tylenol cold syrup 3 times, starting antibiotics, and taken cough drops. Seriously - I feel like I am killing my baby:( I guess if we come out of this ok then we probably really will make it! I feel terrible. Should I NOT have had the h1n1>> They said that they had several doses earlier this week and they only have 1 dose left. I guess its good that I got it but I had to make a quick decision.

Holly- i would not worry hun. You're doing everything right. All the things u have took does not effect the baby. U and baby will be just fine:) It's better to get vaccinated then to come down w/ any of those flu's. Once u feel better u will think that everything u took was all worth it:) Hang in there, those antibiotics should help very soon!

thanks Jill - its just so scary. I wouldn't even consider the h1n1 vaccine but I teach and am around sick kids ALL DAY LONG! I feel like I would definitely get it and if all I have now is a cold then I would be completely screwed with h1n1:( Its just so scary. Thanks for the support. I needed to hear that.

Holly- you're welcome hun. I'm so glad u got vaccinated for sure. Being around kids like u are-it's a must! I have heard horror stories about H1N1. I don't want to scare u so i will refrain from telling.. but all in all i'm glad u got the vaccines and meds to help w/ the bacterial issue:)

Are you using progesterone suppositories Lake? If so, you can expect the spotting to continue until you no longer take them. They can irritake the vj and the cervix which may be causing the spotting. Tons of sticky glue to you, I think you are gonna be just fine!!!
