Hi, summer I am also new to this site. My husband and I have been together for 7 years, married for 2 and ttc for 5 years , (2 with infertility clinic) I too take metformin (type 2 diabetes)and clomid, 6 failed cycles of clomid therapy with hcg shot, 3 iui's with clomid and hsg shot. I plan to start another cycle in February with iui with injectables, so I hope we can exchange stories and keep each other encouraged! I know this is a hard journey, wishing you lots of baby dust and please write back if you have any questions for me!
My Journey

my journey began when me and the love of my life decided to share our life and love with a child together. Well after being diagnosed with PCOS I spent 4 cycles with an OBGYN specializing in infertility. Well come to find out that I was not ovualting on the metformin and clomid that was prescribed. I also went thorough one failed IUI with my OBGYB office. They did not do any ultrasounds or anything. So i made an appt with an RE she gave me a round of BC and clomid, accprding to an ultrasound on day 14 of my cycle that did not work. I was concerned about moving on to more aggresive treatment and she said that she i more conservative in her approach. So went back to metformin for 2 months and could not tolerate it. But i did loose 20 pounds on the metfomin in those two months. So now i have made an appt with a new RE at a fertility clinic. I spoke with a nurse there and she gave me such great encouragement and stated that the treatment that I am seeking is something that they would be able to do there. So I have an appt on Jan 14 2008 and this will mark a new journey in my journey to me and my fiances first born.
I have decided to post my journey for others to view and read and to become encouraged.
Since I am moving on to IUI with injectables and will be starting there I am going to update my journey just to share info with other PCOS'ers out there...

Hi Daniell your story sound all too familar. I have not been through as many cycles of the IUI but I refused to go back on clomid because it made me such a different person and had my moods all over the place...So now I am moving on and I hope tha this will be it for us and you and your husband. I am praying that our first cylce with injectables will be the golden one...but i have to go because I have a crazy man breathing down my neck tryin to get on the computer..LOL but have a nice night and feel free to send me a message or post at any time...and maybe we can become cycle buddies...

Well I go in for my appt with my new RE on Jan 14 to form a plan so I am guessing that we are gonna begin our cycle with injectables in Feb. We have done all the test and work up (i.e my finaces sperm counts and I have recent blood work from my previous RE) so the nurse said that they recieved the medical records when I talked to her and that we should be on our way in starting injectables but when i get there they are gonna do a gyn exam...yuk...and they will do an ultrasound to make sure that i do not have any cyst and we should be able to get the ball rolling with my next cycle. And since I do not have a cycle on my own they are gonna probably have to use the prometrium. Good luck!!
Well here is an update on my journey....I am starting prometrium for AF becuase of no ovulation last cycle...so now we are on to famera for a cycle...and see how that works...we will do ultrasounds and a post coital exam to determine if i need to do inseminations....i great blessing would be the famera works with baby dancing...but we will take it any way...godd luck to all...take care-Summer
Well sweetie, hope everything turns out good and all u have 2 do in the famera/baby dancing, if not inseminations will be just find, "by any means nessasary", lol! I'm starting to get excited about the injectables this upcoming month, good luck sweetie and I'm claiming that by the end of next month we will be celebrating a positive HPT together! Keep me posted!
Hi summer, just wanted to keep you updated. Ugly AF showed her face on Saturday(killer cramps and backache). Anyway my nurse coorinador instructed me to be at the doctor's office early Monday morning for bloodwork and ultrascan. Everything looked good and I started my first injection of follistim last night. That's it, is there anything new on your end? Well, honey you are in my prayers, and get back to me!
Hello Daniell...I am just getting your post...YAY i am so glad that everything is giong well with you...I started the famera on yesterday...I am taking 2.5 mg for 5 days and then doing temps...my temp this morning was 97.9...well i do it at 3 am because i sleep eratically earlly morning...so I am on my way to injectables i hope because i know that gives us a higher chance...My RE said that if this famera does not work and my charting does not show anything then i am on to injectables and a iui which is what i want anyway...I kind of want an ovualtion guarantee..LOL..but sweetie keep me posted and i will do the same...and let me know how those injections go...looks like i may be on them next month anyway becasue the clomid never worked for me after 5 cycles...The Dr does not have too mcuh faith that the famera will either that is why he is not bringing me in for an ultrasound he is gonna rely on temps and blood work..and it saves us soem insurance money when we have to move on to injectables...but anyways...keep me posted girlie...oh how much did they give you...i want to call my insurance company and get an estimate to see how much my out of pocket may be with my insurance..could you tell me what they gave you and how much so that i can call and get an estimate...thanks girlie and good luck i am prayin for you ..keep me posted
Hey Summer, well I'm on follistim, 50 units a night until I go in Friday and get bloodwork/ultrasound. Girl, those injectables out of pocket is $400.00(300 units) dollars! Thank God for my insurance, my co pay is usually 40.00 dollars and believe me I don't take that for granted. But, please call your insurance and see how much they cover, by the way I have Carefirst, Blue Cross/Blueshield and they are pretty awesome. Good luck on the famera and I will definitely keep u posted on my treatment. Stay positive and u r in my prayers!
Thank you so much Danielle...I also work for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Virginia...and they cover my infertility medications and also IUI and IVF so that is a blessing...now they cover my infertility treatment here 50 percent and i pay 50 percent out of pocket...jut to give you an idea...the clomid is 100 dollars at the pharmacy that i get it from and that is out of pocket...now with my insurance i paid 12 dollars for it so that is a di difference...so do you know what the percentage that they pay yours at...I know that it also depends on how much the pharmacy pays for the medicine and what the allowed amount is that the insurance will pay...for example...my iui was 200 dollars at my obgyn office the insurance only allowed 100 dollars for the procedure in which i paid a 50 dollar co insurance and the insurance paid 50 dollars...isn't that great...i am sure yours in the same...keep me posted...
Oh yeah, that is terrific and mine is basically the same, we are truly blessed. Well, to give you an update I went back to the doctors Friday, and since i am on such a low dose of 50mg, my follicles did nothing. I was so upset, and to make things worst he refused to up my dose because of my diabetes and that my ovaries have "potential" for producing many follicles. Even though I understand his conern, I was like, "Dude I don't care if I have multiple follicles, that's a better chance of me getting preggo!" Well anyway he order me back this morning and over the weekend, two of the ten small follicles started to outgrow the other (estrogen was low friday to) and he couldn't get a clear view of my right ovaries. So, not much change just waiting for my new bloodwork and to see if he will increase my follistim, hopefully he will! How is the femara going? Stay positive we are going to get the end result that we have been dreaming about, keep me posted sweetie!
Hey Danielle just to give you an update on me...The famera is doing good for me thank the lord...Finally getting those eggies to grow...I went in today for an ultrasound and he said one on the left at 11 cm and then one on the right that is 12 cm...so i am giong back in on monday or tuesday for a post coital exam and another ultra sound to see where my eggies are...I am told to take an OPK in 4 days to test for ovualtion and see if i am ovulating and then come in for the post coital...to determine if i need inseminations...so it is moving right along..and our eggies are growing...keep me posted. what CD are you on I am on CD 11and hope fully by CD 17 that is 6 days which will be on tuesday those eggies will be ready to burst out..LOL take care hun...
Hey Summer, girl you would not believe that insemination day is tommorrow! Well,on Tuesday my 2 follicles measured 15/19, he had me take 75 units and on Wednesday night and this morning my 2 follicles measured 18/22, WOW! I then took my HSG shot right there in the office and insemination day is TOMMORROW! I can't believe it! How are your eggies and what are they measuring now? Good luck sweetie and keep me in your prayers tonight! I'll let you know how everythings goes tommorrow morning!
girl that is so so so great...well we go in on monday or tuesday just depending on if i get a positive ovulation test and then we will do a post coital exam. and see if we need the inseminations..but i may just opt for one anyway. and then we will do the ultrasound to see how the eggies are then..girl I am so happy for you that your eggies are on their way..good luck sweetie and keep me posted..
Hey summer, my IUI was Friday @ 11am and to my surprise I wasn't freaking out! But, today is a different story, I'll having a little anal cramping, and I'll freaking out because this is not normal, this happens for my iui's and I;m too embrassed to ask about it, but I will csll my doctor on monday (sorry if that's too much info) Just trying to stay stress free and keep myself busy so I won't think about it so much! How are u sweetie, let me know how your app goes! I started baby aspirin and I will start progestone on Monday!
Hi danielle..Anal cramping don't know what that could be from...maybe gas from nervousness? Let me know what the doc say...Good luck with your 2ww I am sure that everything is gonna go great..everything looks great for you...even though doc said that my follicels should be mature by this week end i still got a BFN on OPK...but he said at latest monday so i will continue to test...keep me posted ..I should be going in on monday or tuesday for another ultrasound...
