My HCG level and dr. appointment update

I know I promised you all that I would have this up yesterday, but due to the wonderful WET snow we got over the weekend, my phone lines went down, until this morning. and they are on and off all morning, while they repair them from the storm. I cannot wait till we get dsl internet!!!! no more dial up drama!

As for the dr. yesterday, my beta hcg was 101, so technically it doubled, :):) but not by much! he did an ultrasound but couldn't see much, not sure what he was looking for really, but the cyst on my right ovary is OVER 4 inches now!! he told me to keep taking it easy, he put me back on provera, to keep my progesterone up, and go back in on wednesday for another beta blood test. So, I guess I will go from there.

Anyone get put back on progesterone while pregnant? I am confused by this, because he has always given me progesterone to take to induce my AF, why would he give it to me while im pregnant? I've heard of using progesterone suppositories, but these are the regulare provera pills that I took to start AF?????

Any thoughts ladies? Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers, they mean the world to me!! :) :)

I did IVF for the first time, I always take an hCG shot to induce ovulation... and I was told to begin taking progesterone in oil shots the day after my retrieval... I was told the progesterone thickens the lining of the uterous -- I'm still on them and I'm 6wks 1day preggers right now... I've been told to take them througout 7wks or until the doc says to staop taking them.

Hope that info helps out. You say your hCG level was 101 what day of cycle are you on?

I had to take progesterone supplements until I was 12 weeks pregnant. It does something different if you are pregnant already.

It is totally common for any RE to keep someone on that for the first 12 weeks- so dont miss a pill, it is helpful :)

LD, Thanks for the info, its very helpful. I am on cd33 today, so my hcg was 101 on cd 32 and 17dpo. I had a hcg level of 23 on cd30. So that is where I stand now, and took my second progesterone pill today.

BobbiJ-- as far as PROGESTERONE during pregnancy, YES!! I am on it up until i'm 12 weeks along (i'm 6.5 weeks now) b/c i have a very low progesterone, and progesterone is the hormone that KEEPS you pregnant, so i started taking it day 17 of my cycle, which was right after ovulation, and continued until i found out in Sept that i WAS pregnant :) Now that i am, he'll keep me on it until 1st trimester is over, to give me a better chance not to lose the baby : ) seems to be working--half way through 1st trimester, no spotting or bleeding!! I've taken about 10 tests and all positive!

The vaginal suppositories are good cause you just put one in before bed and go to sleep--some people have to give themself progesterone shots!

where do you live that you got snow already?

Im in wisconsin and we have the crappiest weather most of the time and this weekend it was like 70! i will get snow so soon and i dont wanna!!!

CONGRATS BOBBIJ. MY DOC ALSO HAS ME ON PROGESTERONE SUPP. ITS SUPPOSE TO THICKEN YOUR LINING SO THAT BABY HAS SOMETHING TO HOLD ON TO. I'VE HAD 2M/C AND THATS WHY I'M ON PROGESTERONE. I AM CURRRENTLY 5WKS3DAYS WITH NO PROBLEMS. LAST TIME WITHOUT THE PROGESTERONE I STARTED SPOTTING AROUND 4WKS5DAYS. HOPE THIS HELPS. GOOD LUCK

My doc said when I go in for my u/s on the 21st that I'm supposed to pick up a new prescrip for progesterone vaginal supp too... so I'm betting I'll be on those for awhile... so you should consider this to be a good thing. Before with my past two m/c I never was told about the Progesterone - so maybe that could have been a reason I miscarried --- only now I"m questioning because I didn't know better before.
