After 2 years of trying naturally, then onto Clomid, then 2 failed IUIs I am beginning my first (and hopefully last) IVF attempt. After all of the testing that both myself and my DH have gone through the RE has determined that I'm perfectly fine, but my DH doesn't have the strongest swimmers (low morphology). IVF is our last resort. I started taking my BCPs on Thursday and I go in this coming Friday for my trial transfer. I wanted to find what experiences other woman have had with IVF. Just as an FYI, I'm 37 and my DH is 47. Anyone close to 40 or over that has had success with IVF?

HI ladies, I've been following this thread. I'm a bit behind you, I start My Stims Tomorrow. I'm getting excited but also Scared. Retrieval is "set" for Dec 1st so far, we'll see if it all goes smoothly. Fingers crossed.

I can't wait to start hearing all your BFP's! And Hopefully I get mine too!

Hi Wishing - Welcome! I'm with you...it's exciting and scary all at the same time. I was just telling one of my friends that over the past day or so the part of me that was scared has turned to pure excitment. I'm not nervous at all about the the retrieval....I say bring it! Can't get here fast enough. :)

Keep me posted on your journey. Lots of prayers coming your way!! I'm hoping to see your BFP here very soon!! :)

Thanks so much Star Fish! I'm not scared of retrieval at all either...after everything else I've been put through already(surgeries,HSG's ets...) this seems like a walk in the park.

WHat I am scared of is Failure...but I am trying to stay positive!

I will definitely keep you posted and I wish you all the best as well!

Wishing - I completely agree with you. It's the failure part that is by far the most difficult to deal with. How does the saying go? Positive thoughts lead to positive results! :) Bring on the BFPs!!!

the failure and what are we todo next is the hard part!

If only we could glimpse into the future to see what are best decisions would be!

I had great b/w and u/s with lots of follicles and now wanting to make it to egg retrieval with n more bumps!

Hi Ladies,

Went to RE this morning for us/bw since today is stim day 1. My progesterone was a little over 20, so they said that's good. Tonight I dropped my lupron down from 10 units to 5 units. I will also take 125 units of follistim and 75 units of menopur. They want to see me on Monday morning again, then on Wed., and every other day after that for monitoring. Apparently closer monitoring than the 3 cycles of follistim and IUI I did this summer/fall. That was every 2,3,4 days. So, here we go...come on follicles...grow.

Sara - WOO HOO!!! You are on your way!! So happy for you! You'll have to let me know if you have any side effectes from any of the meds. I had 2 1/2 IUIs (one was cancelled because I overstimulated)and I will say one thing is for sure....my RE definitely is monitoring me more closely with this IVF cycle.
