Oh Rachel - that hurts..I thin kthe toe nail will come off on its own, I would not pull it off... Put a call in to the Doc..do they have an answering service where you can have the Doc paged to see what he thinks??

He was so scared, and it was scary to me, it has been bleeding alot, and under the nailbed his toe is blue. The toenail is still attached, but is very lose. Does it need to be pulled off or will it fall off on it's own. This is a new one for me, and the Doctor's office is closed. I cleaned it, and put bandaids on it, and gave him some tylenol. I also have ice on it. He is doing better now. Is there anything else I need to do?

Thanks so much ladies, he is resting now, and not complaing about it now. I think I will buy him some sandles, which he hates, he is a cowboy and loves his John Deere Boots.... But I am sure the sandals will be more comfy. I will call the doc. in the morning, it was just scary....but I have read, and it is very common, so I am not gonna worry. I am sure it will be fine. Might u guys know how long it will be b4 the new toenail will grow in completly?
Rachel..Hi awee i know he is in pain..my fiance ripped one of his toe nails off it did not bleed because he had stomped it before ans the toe nail was dead and new toenail was growing under the bad toe nail..anyways this is not the first time that he has ripped that toe nail off..so he will be okay..my fiance says that it hurts like hell..he put a band aid and some neopsporin on it and in about 2 days it was better..the toe nail will fall off on its own and will grow back with time..but call the doc incase they can give him somethng over the next couple of days for pain and stuff..the big thing now is to prevent infection..so ig you have an antibiotic cream of some sort like neosporin i would def use it..take care
