Multiples on fertilty meds

TTCbaby.. with clomid there is only a 5% chance of multiples.

If ur doing IUI w/ Gonal F and the HCG trigger shot then there is a 5-10% chance of multiples but ur dc will be monitoring u by U/S and most docs will not let u have multiples.

I tried to ask my doc to let me have triplets but he said he will not do that.

my doc doesn't seem that way....I want multiples so bad and if I'm having trouble conceiving naturally then I want multiples on meds.

I may have a blocked right tube cuz they did the hsg twice so I might have contacted and closed then. I won't know for a few weeks. This would be my first baby besides the miscarriage I had about 6 months ago

TTCbaby.. the most reason why docs will not let u have multiples is b/c its not safe for u or the babies.

The only real way to get multiples would be if u did IVF and put back more then 1 egg and they all made it.

Alot of docs will not consider multiples w/ IUI since u are being monitored by U/S and the doc will tell u when to do the trigger shot so u wil ovulate.

It kinda does ...so let me get this straight with an ivf they insert your own eggs but with i.u.i they use the one already inside of you....am i correct?

yes, that's correct....

with IVF, they put back in 1-2 fertilized eggs. Most docs follow a protocol limiting the number of embryos transferred.

With IUI, they use your own eggs and use a syringe to put DH's sperm into your uterus around the time of ovulation.

If you're on some of the higher-power drugs and intend to do IUI, the docs may refuse to do it if you have too many ripe follicles.

It puts them in a position of potential liability cuz you could "blame" them for you m/c one or more of the babies, or premature birth, or stillbirth, or complications, etc.

AND, with multiples, you're almost guaranteed a long stay in the NICU, and additional health concerns afterward. Having preemie children is hard. I have a preemie daughter.

TTCbaby.. they cant make u have a abortion but they will do their best not to let u have multiples. But w/ IVF there is a higher chance of having multiples.

oh okay...so then hope for the best..on an i.u.i how many folicles can you have at one time if you are using drugs?

It depends on teh drugs and the dosage.

okay cool...i will wait and see when i do an i.u.i....have only second appointment with my fertility doctor
