morphology of sperm

May 27, 2008

MH and I have beein trying to concieve for about a year, we just got test results back that showed his morphology at 54- borderline. He was taking allopurinol for gout up till a month ago - and then stopped based on some reports of infertility. Could this be the reason for the low morphology- if he contiues to stop taking the drug will it go back to normal. We already have 2 kids.

sperm regenerates itself after 3 months..so I sure hope so. Good luck! :) Hope you get the doc's response too!

Welcome to FertilityTies julie!

Talk to your doc further about this, but this morphology shouldn't be a significant part of the infertility, and there may be other issues involved...if truly concerned, getting a Kruger morphology will eliminate doubt...allopurinol can affect sperm, not as bad as colchicine for gout...

Good Luck and Keep us posted...
