Monitoring??

June 27, 2008

I was wondering if anyone here has done the clomid with monitoring and ovidrel? If so did you take the ovidrel shot the same cycle day each month? My insurance does not cover this and I have already done this one month and can not afford the second month so much, so I was wondering if I could do it WITHOUT the u/s and bloodwork, as long as I do it on the same days as the 1st cycle. I know my RE will probably say no as they want the money but I already have the meds.

you will take the ovidrel shot when your follies are mature and your doc will tell you when that is since you will be monitored. It most likely wont be the same day each month.

Plenty of ladies use clomid and are not monitored - but i dont know if you can use the ovidrel unless you are monitored..... then you would take the clomid and use OPK's to find your ovulation day and then baby dance at home.

Hi Michele,

Many women use clomid without monitoring and you probably could as well. Monitoring may be useful as a baseline to rule out any residual cysts from your previous cycle and to make sure you didn'[t form too many follicles. But most women can get away without it.

You also don't need the ovidrel shot. Use an ovulation predictor kit and when it turns +, go ahead and start having intercourse.

Good luck...

Dr Thanks for your input, I dont seem to ovulate on the clomid alone that is why I use the ovidrel shot.
