Moms, i REALLY need your help

September 16, 2008

as some of you may know, i have been having VERY frequent contractions which i can't seem to stop no matter whether i'm resting or not.

i just wondered, how did all of you know you were in active labor and what signs did you have before? i know the water breaking and timing contractions, but just before REAL labor, did you have regular contractions throughout the day/night?

i have very high pain tolerance and i just don't know when i should go into the L&D. i just read in my birthing packet that you're supposed to go if you get more than 4 contractions an hour, no matter painful or not. last night i had the same PAINFUL contraction that feels like menstrual cramps and before i went to L&D, i guess i just wanted to know i'm not being ridiculous.

Thanks ladies!

September 16, 2008

ok this is really weird. i was just responding to 2 posts, one from Lori O and the other from Caryn... and i was typing, the page refreshed and their messages have vanished.

Veronica, do you know what may be going on?

September 16, 2008

Oliver...I had a planed C-section with my daughter so I can't be of much help..but I do think if it's been day and nite you should go to the Doctor...I can't believe your baby could be here any time! WOW I am sooo excited for you...keep me posted hun

September 16, 2008

Well I was told the the 5:1:1 rule of contractions 5 minutes apart for 1 hr that are 1 minute each. I didn't go to the hospital until then and I could definitely tell I was in labor. I mean it felt like bad, bad menstrual cramps! I mean crazy cramps! :) But everyone is different and please don't hesitate to go in if you think you should. The worst thing that can happen is that they send you home. But at least you know all is well! :) You have your appointment tomorrow right?

September 16, 2008

i went to L&D like 3 times thinking i was in labor but wasnt - lol! Then when my water broke and contractions were 5 min apart i went in and that was the "real deal". I thought that if they are consistant for an hour and less than 8 min apart you are spose to go in?

September 16, 2008

okay, my birthing guide pamphlet said if you are pre-term... less than 37 weeks and you have more than 4 contractions in an hour or painful cramps to go to L&D. it's just that my doctors have been so nonchalant about my contractions (i've had 2 fFN tests since i was 28 weeks) that i don't know what to do. ugghhh... i am just so frustrated w/ them i don't even like to call them as this is always a 2 step process of me calling w/ my name, then them calling me back hours later).

what worries me the most is that i still have my doppler i rented and when i was having a contraction, i monitored the baby's heartrate and it dipped down to low 120s, then went back up slowly to the normal 140s. i just don't want to harm the baby in any way.

anyway, i've decided to go to L&D when dh comes home from work (busy time for him). i had an appointment tomorrow, but it's with a doctor i don't even know (they are in a group-11 of them and i've been rotating), and i honestly feel like they pay no mind to anything i say. i also have no idea how big the baby is or even how she's developing. i had gone up to 24 pounds recently, then dropped 3 pounds over 2 days, so now i'm at 21 (which means i haven't gained any weight in about 2 weeks).

thanks ladies for your insight and i'll keep you posted on what happens. love you all! thanks again.

September 16, 2008

Good luck Oliver, keep us posted, I def. think you should go in, heck thats what these Docs are paid for!

September 16, 2008

im pretty sure that the heartrate will always drop while having a contraction cuz the uterus is squeezing the baby but its not harmful. If you go into the L&D they wont tell you how dumb you are and shun you for the rest of the time you are preggo.... they will take you in and have you on a monitor for a bit and if nothing then you go home, no biggie! lol, tons of ladies do it all the time :)

September 16, 2008

okay i feel much better about going in now. i just didn't want to seem like a crazy hysterical woman ... i'm SO SICK of being treated like that. so frustrating to be treated like that when i've come this far to have a baby, which you ladies all know... this is no easy journey for any of us. i don't want to jeopardize it at all.

i am SERIOUSLY going to a new doctor if i ever get pregnant again... this large group thing is NOT working out for me.

the baby is moving around a lot right now and i'm having these creepy sensations down there, literally it's like someone is squeezing my cervix, she is SO low ladies.

i haven't had the problems of breathing or kicks in the ribs b/c she's been low this whole time.

i figure i'll go into the hospital around 6pm or so... who knows what will happen so ... i'll keep you posted.

is there anything i should know or to tell them when i go into L&D?

thanks again for coming to the rescue ladies!!

September 16, 2008

Oli, it is always common for the baby's heartrate to drop a bit with contractions as Chels said, but I think going to L&D is probably a wise choice...to make sure all is well and hope that little stays pout for a bit longer! Much love!

September 16, 2008

Make sure you bring your bags in the car, and carseat just incase you do stay. thats all I can think of when you go...haha.

Im wishing you the best and maybe she is well on her way, something is going on, and im like you high pain tollerence here so I dont know what will happen during that time. I have been getting more period like cramps lately but not contractions so thats really good, cause im only 30weeks 3days, still plenty of time to go, I think I just overdid it yesterday..haha.

Im wishing you the best and cant wait to hear whats going on!

Lots of love!

September 16, 2008

Oliver, you will not need your car seat right away, if you are in labor, the baby will go to the NICU for a bit,.. at 32 weeks, she needs NICU care.. but you will obviously need it installed at some point, but like Jolene suggests a good idea to pack a bag :)

September 16, 2008

OMG-- i'm on the phone w/ the nurse i hate! she is SO mean and was SO mean to me when i thought something was wrong w/ the baby at my 20 week u/s. ugghhh!!!! i can't stand this!

i'll keep you all posted, i'm on hold now.

September 16, 2008

Oliver, why did you call? I thought you were going to the ER? Save yourself the aggravation! Go when DH comes home.. or can you go now with a friend or family member??

September 16, 2008

ok ladies, i am going to be seen by the dr. who gave me an attitude. please wish me luck and pray they will at least tell me how the baby is doing. :-(

will get back to you in a few hours.

September 16, 2008

Good Luck, come on here and post to let us know...((HUGS))

September 16, 2008

caryn, i wish i would have seen your message before i called them. i thought i would give them a heads up of what is going on in case i cancelled or they changed my regular appointment tomorrow. i'm really regretting having to go see this jerk. :-(

everyone please pray for me that he won't be an ass.

XOXO, will let you know how it went.

September 16, 2008

Hi Oliver,

I hope everything is ok hun! I have the same sensations in my cervix. I feel like I ket kicked or punched there... the pressure is almost unbearable! I would definitly ask to be seen since you are only 33 weeks. I also notice a difference if I sit and keep my feet up so try doing that it might help. Please keep us posted hun!

September 16, 2008

THinking of you sweetie!!! Prayer and thoughts!!! :)

September 16, 2008

Oh duh no Carseat of course, I was just thinking of being further along, but all will be fine sweetie, just bring something with you, and I know that nervous feeling of hating to be seen or aggravating them, but this is there job, they signed up for it, so they can kiss your @$$...hehe. Doctors and nurses who are rude just piss me off at times, dont they know how uncomfortable it is for us to call when we have a problem, and the only reason its that way is because they make it that way, im glad I have a good practice but still I get nervous, because of previous situations where people made me feel so dumb!

Lots of love sweetie, all is going to be great!

September 16, 2008

hey ladies, just got back from the dr.'s. another internal exam showed i'm not dilated. he told me not to take the turbutaline (he never asked about any health issues- i've had cardiac issues in the past) b/c it wouldn't be good all things considered. so he gave me an rx for procardia (anyone know about this drug?), which he said is a calcium channel blocker. i asked if it could hurt the baby and he joked that "yes it would hurt the baby" (yeah, didn't think that was too funny). he said he'd been dying to say that to someone... it was his passive aggressive way of telling me i ask stupid questions and didn't like me questioning him.

but seriously, next time it gets bad (if it does), i will go to ER.

i am NOT very happy about taking this drug b/c i have VERY low blood pressure (they joke at the office that my blood pressure's so low that i'm almost in a coma). isn't that weird? i have very high heartrate, but very low blood pressure.

i wonder if it's from the fact that i used to smoke?

anyway, i will keep you ladies posted on anything new happening.

he also said it's normal for me to have lost weight (i've lost weight both times i've been in recently) and that it's no indication anything is wrong w/ the baby.

when i asked to have an u/s to see how the baby is doing, he said it wouldn't do anything for me to get the u/s. ??????

uggghh!!!!!

September 16, 2008

urrgh Oliver, I am sorry you are dealing with an obnoxious OB! Next time go to the ER!, But I am glad everything seems fine :)

September 16, 2008

Ooliver okay this is what I am going to say and this is just my experience. You know that my Dr's monitor me very well and very close and I have contractions to whether i am sitting or standing laying down or whatever...and i also have them when i take my turbutaline also..and i have them like for 30 minutes straight and it would be like 5 of them and this happens like after 6pm and it happens like 3 times at night. so don't worry..if they are not constant meaning you are hainvg them consistantly then don't worry. i went to the dr today and she hooked me up to the machine and i had like maybe 7 of them and i was on there for like and hour or a little over and she said as long as they are not consistant meaning like they are coming every 2 minutes apart and they stop then it is not preterm labor..so basically tha tis what i go by because real labor will not stop..she told me that the contractions that i was having when she hooked me to the machine were not strong enough for them to be concerned..like when they look at the paper that comes out the machine they look at the intensity of the contractions meaning that if the top of the contraction is high up on the page (that is the best way that i can explain it the contraction when it is shown on paper looks like a hiil it goes up and then come back dow) so if the top of the hill is like high on the page then that is a strong one but mine were barely that steep..even though they feel like they were worse than what she was saying..so she told me that i was not in preterm labor..i hope i explained it enough to give you a good picture..

do your contractions stop or are they all day long..mine are sparatic but they are more than the 4 an hour..take care and try not to worry so much even though i know it is hard..i am gonna make a post about my appt. because i am kind of frustrated too with the nurse practicioner..take care sweetie

September 16, 2008

Glad things are ok sweetie, I say just take it easy as much as possible, easier said then done I know. Im already nesting I swear, and its getting worse everyday. Im pushing myself a little to much im sure, and now my lower back is KILLING me, and upper back is starting. Now im just going to relax as much as I can, because the moving stuff around from room to room is done, and basically its just putting things away and organizing and cleaning and stuff.

Just put your feet up when you can, take a warm bath when you get a chance as well, speaking of that im doing that in a second after I put up some of Noahs stuff, we just got his chest together (had it for a couple months now, but there were some damaged pieces, and now that its put together you cant tell, but the pieces wont be in until at the EARLIEST mid October, so we put it together after months of waiting thinking they were coming, and OMG I wish we had it together a long time ago...haha.

Anyways you take it easy and keep that little girl healthy and happy in there, and the weight loss is totally normal I hear towards the end. They say you start to gain more at the end, but I hear so many losing like 3-5 pounds or more towards the end, so who knows. Take it as it comes, as long as she is fine you are fine :)

Lots of love sweetie!!!!

September 16, 2008

Oh hun...I feel so bad your doctor is such an ass..If it helps I also have crazy crazy low blood pressure..I do even if not prego and did with carleigh but it is really low this time..I am also having funny weird cramps way down low carleigh was SOOOO much higher this baby is way down there and it feels SO weird!

At know time should a doc or anyone make you feel silly for having questions or wanting to know everything is ok..thats you # 1 job right now!!!

To bad you dont have my doc he is amazing...wishing you much love and hugs..try to relax you and baby are both going to be perfect!!! xoxo

September 16, 2008
