About 5 years ago, I was misdiagnosed with PCOS and put on metformin. Since it was so long ago, I don't remember how I reacted.
Concerned about PCOS, I asked my general endo to run some tests. Since the first of the year, I've put on 17+ lbs, craved sweets (not like me at all), my cycles are lengthening, luteal phase shortening and my acne has worsened.
Well, last week, my glucose tested high and so did my insulin levels. Glucose was at 120 mg/dL (it was not a fasting test.... rather, mid-day, not sure when I'd last eatten) and insulin was at 72 uIU/mL.
ANYWAY, my doc called in a Rx for Metformin today to hopefully get some of this under control.
I was hoping that some of you who've been on met for a bit could give me some tips...
I think I remember something about time of day, with/without food, starting dose slowly, etc.
Help?
