Hi Dr. Q- how long do you usually recommend taking metformin during pregnancy? My sis' doctor had her take it all 9 months. My doctor says the first 12 weeks...what are your thoughts? I want to make sure I am clear of a miscarriage! :) THANKS!
Each doc is different, I base my decision on one of the Best PCOS studies published to date, and along with other leading REs, stop Metformin at the onset of a positive pregnancy test now...The study actually showed a higher miscarriage rate on those who were on Metformin..
baby questions...i know that everyone is different..my doc told me to continue the met..but i did not because it was just too much for me..honestly ..if i continued it i think i would have had a m/c because of all the side effects and stuff..even though i had gotten use to it..my body still was not the same..i took it for like 3 days and that was it..
Thanks Summer! I don't have any side effects on it anymore (but i know how bad they can be!), so its really just a matter of my baby's safety at this point! Thank you for the input
but this just goes to show..i am 21 weeks and i quit a while ago so it may not help with the M/C you just never know..but it is really up to you what you want to do you know..I say the hell with that metformin..LOL..okay i have something against the metformin..it made me feel so bad..so we have a babd relationship me and the metformin..LOL
