Medicine for thin lining??? Dr Q or Ladies

25 mg is a VERY low dose of Clomid. Are you going to have to take 1/2 a pill?

I thought most people were started on 50mg?

Also, I think the worry of Clomid thinning the lining is over time.... several cycles. Usually I think docs try to git-r-done within 6 cycles of Clomid.

tamoxifen or letrozole

I took estradiol/estrace vaginally to increase my uterine lining.

Angelfish... when do they usually give u the tamoxifen or letozole? Is it after u finish the Clomid or at the same time?

ThisisMelissa.. I O on my own so I am taking it to give me a extra boost. Yes it will be a half of pill.

BP... did u take it at the sametime when u were taking Clomid or did u take it after u finished the last pill? What mg were u on? Did it thin out ur lining? Im excited about taking it but now im worried that it will thin out my lining.

I took clomid cd 3-7 then started estradiol on cd 10. I ended up moving off clomid and trying femara which I took cd3-7 and again took estradiol starting on cd 10. I continued taking it throughout and am still taking it (I'm currently 5w4d pregnant).

Letrozole (Femara) works by stopping the production of estrogen. Your hypothalamus recognizes this decrease in Estrogen, and purposely creates more hormones in the same fashion as Clomid to help the ovary make a follicle.

Tamoxifen is a sister medication to Clomid belonging to class of drugs called SERMs, which are different than Premarin or HRTs...

Whereas Clomid can thin the lining, tamoxifen proliferates the lining, and usually can be given by itself as 40mg/day for 5 days, no different than the clomid regimen...

There are a few posts on this site where I write extensively on Femara...pros and cons...

A study was performed to determine the maximum efficacy of femara, and it was determined to be 5mg/day (2 pills/day) taken as if it was clomid...There is some data (although not conclusive) that Femara has a higher pregnancy rate than clomid...If femara doesn't work, or want to try something more aggressive, consider injectable gonadotropins, but these are usually given by an RE...basically Letrozole (Femara) is the next step up from Clomid hence the increase of price. I have read the side effects of Femara is much less than Clomid and with better results because it does help the lining and doesn't dry you up!!!!

my doc said that with such a small does you dont normally have any issues with lining or hostile CM. He said normally you dont see any issues til you are taking 100 or 150mgs.

Well guess thats not true- as I was on a low dose 50mg and only my 3rd round and experienced a lining problem with my last round.. IDK I wish my doctor had given me something .. I am going to be taking baby asprin to help build it up before IVF

I was only on 50mg as well and had lining issues. I even had one cycle in between my clomid cycles where I ovulated on my own and still had a thin lining so it may just always be an issue with me, regardless of clomid. I don't think it can hurt to ask your Dr. or RE about some kind of supplementation though.

katie, ive been taking clomid and tamoxifen for the past 2mths. i take 100mg of clomid cd3-7 and 10mg of tamoxifen cd3-12. my doc put me on tamoxifen bc my lining was 5cm since ive been taking it it has been 7 and 8cm. plus this month i went for an ultrasound on cd25 and my lining measured 14cm. so it really does work!

my OB wont give me anything for it since he is so sure that it wont bother anything on only 50mg - what can i take on my own? Baby aspirin low dose? That helps with lining, right?

Do you think that you had issues caryn cuz it was you 3rd round cuz it built up or do you think its always an issue?

Chels- Not sure, I was never told my lining was thin.. This nurse who did mt U/S was telling me and pointing out everything.. so I am not sure if it was an on going issue.. I suppose I could ask... I do not think it will be an issue anymore since I do not think the IVF drugs do that right?

they are not suppose to thin the lining but i would talk to them about it anyway since it was thin this last cycle. Maybe they can put you on baby aspinin just in case. I didnt take BA the 1st IVF and didnt get preggo and the 2nd i did and got preggo - could be cuz of the BA but could have been a fluke. I also wonder if i lost them cuz i went off the BA? I dont know much about all that stuff. He never said i had any issues with my lining but who knows.

hey katie, yeah i take them both together. the tamoxifen not only helps the lining but also helps the follicles too.
