This was done by taking a sample of sperm ..adding a blue chemical and then waiting to see if the resulting colour was darker than the
control colour. If darker that indicated a normal sperm count.
It was actually quite hard to decipher the results because my bf's sample colour was a completely different tone of blue than the control colour, however it was definatley a more 'dense' shade. This baffled us so I emailed the manufacturers and they told us it was a good result because his sample colour was more 'intense'. This is not an uncommon result because apparently the tone of blue can be affected from one man to another because of diet (shame they neglected to mention this in the instructions leaflet!). We've since had 2 SA's done at the docs and his sperm count came back absolutely fine :)
So my advice would be try this kit at home if not wanting to go to docs just yet but be aware that interpreting the results can be a little tricky. Also there are more issues at stake when it comes to sperm analysis than just the 'count', motility & morphology should also be assessed.
Good luck and ***babydust***
