Losing the baby weight...

I thought I'd start a post for all of us who've just had babies to track our weight loss post-baby and encourage each other.. and maybe even come up with some tips for shedding the pounds!! :)

Right now.. I'm not doing much of anything intentional.. I'm finding it hard to eat 3 meals a day.. :) As of Monday, I had lost 20 lbs. (I gained 15 while prego) According to my scale, I've lost another 5 more.. but I don't trust my scale at all!!)

This is an awsome post. I hope it makes me lose another 15-20 lbs. Im eating 3 meals + eating ice cream every single day, something I couldnt do while preggo. Im back to the diet coke and mochas. Im at 146 lbs. Wanna get to 130 lbs by end of July and stop all this unhealthy food habits. No tips here Im a glutton right now

Okay, I gained 20lbs in pregnancy and so far I lost 25lbs, so I'm down all the pregnancy weight plus an additional 5lbs. I'm def not eating three meals a day, it's impossible with how needy Cameron is :) I also started walking and figure that pushing the stroller will help me burn more calories, at least I hope it is. lol I'd like to lose 40 more lbs by the end of the summer.

I think this post got lost for a while. According to MY scale (again.. no idea how accurate it REALLY is) I'm down to 163 lbs.. so, that would be down 32 I think.. if I can count...from when I gave birth a month ago... (195-163=32, right? lol) That would only put me down 12 more since my 1 week appointment.. I guess thats not too bad really.. I was hoping to lose more!

As I lose weight, I think my pooch of skin becomes more noticeable... and my body feels all out of proportion.. and I'm sure my boobs weigh ten pounds a piece haha.. I was a 44 E when I gave birth.. my around size has gone down, I almost don't need the back extender, which I think puts me back down to a 40 around.. but the E is too small.. I really need to go get some new bras b/c when I fill up with milk, my bra won't hold em in!!

I go for my six week appointment on July 10th at 10 am.. its a little longer than 6 weeks actually...

I haven't been doing anything to try to lose weight.. I guess I should? I've even been slacking on walking here lately because its been about 95 degrees (or more) for a couple weeks!

How are the rest of you doing?

149 lbs here :( Since my 6th week appt, Ive been spending 30 mins in the gym or pool. The pooch has almost gone but my hips have widened for some reason and Im not very happy..

okay I'm not happy at all with my body and if it wasn't for having such a gorgeous baby boy, I'd really be depressed about it. lol :)))

I lost all my pregnancy weight and originally an extra 5lbs, then gained that back after I stopped breastfeeding. Well this past week I lost 4 1/2 pds since starting to watch what I eat and walking either 3 miles outside or 30 min on my treadmill. I also did my workout dvd's twice this past week. My goal is to lose a total of 40lbs. I also have that nasty pooch that seems to sag lower with each passing day. I need to lose my belly, a butt or two and def in my thighs. Oh and please lets not talk about the bbs...can you say hitting my knees??? lmao!

Hey ladies...so here are my stats.....starting weight 125lbs.....delivery weight 155lbs. NOw 10 days out I'm at 142lbs. So that puts me down 13lbs. I couldn't stand wearing the maternity capris anymore so I went and bought new capris in a size 8!!! I don't care I needed to feel a little normal. I can't wait to start doing some walking and exercising. When did your docs tell you that you could. Mine said nothing for at least 2 weeks, but then I'm not sure when I can do more. This pooch is insane! :) hugs to all of you....we can do this together

Me too... I need a pooch buddy! I think the only one on here close to me is Shelly. But..it's so hard to say when I will deliver these girls. I hope I don't make it past 37 weeks! That would put me at 4 weeks away.

LOL.. pooch buddies.. that sounds so cute...

Fran, my dr said no exercise until 6 week appt. the only thing I'm allowed to do is lay on my back and lift up my shoulders (Like, 1/4 of a sit up haha) and walk up to 5 blocks a day. (I was walking more than that though! I'm just not walking anymore cuz its been too hot and I've been too busy lol)

Walking is okay Fran, no work outs though until at least your 6wk and even then for me my doc made me wait 2 more wks. I was borderline post pardum depression and also still healing from my tubes being tied. but now I'm fine and working out.

Oh and Meghan, you are wayyy braver than me. I'm not willing to post a pooch pic of myself just yet. Maybe once I lose the weight I'll post a before and after but until I'm happy with myself...no go on posting a pic. You look good though...and same here, not many pics of me holding Cameron either.

Sarah I'm sure you look great and Meghan you do! I have to laugh that I feel fine out and about as long as I'm with the baby, but If I go out without him I feel like people are just wondering if I'm pregnant or fat!! At least when Caden is with me people can kind of figure it out!

LOL Girls You just had babies! It takes time.. not to worry you will loose it.. I still looked preggo 6-8 weeks out of delivery.. But I joined Weight Watchers online and it worked! Also exercise if you can.. light walking to start.. The only thing I noticed after loosing the weight was my shape changed :( I am still not happy about my hips :(

Oh gosh my hips were wide to begin with ...please don't tell me that they're gonna be even wider. At this point I'll be happy to go back to having a flat tummy. I've always had a bigger butt, hips but a flat tummy and small upper body. Kind of like J-Lo. (Lmao....I WISH)!!!!!!!

Im so jealous lol. Theres somethin wrong with my back. The shooting pain that I had during the preg is back big time sine last 2 days..Hafta see a Dr b4 resuming the workout..Any idea if I need to see an orthopaedic or a chiro or a GP ??

I don't want to say they can definintely help, but they can do heat, massage, stretching and electrical stimulation. Maybe also some exercises that can relieve pain. It's just a thought, but it may do the trick!

Thanks Caryn.. I hope so.. I told dh I should really start watching what I eat.. and working out as soon as I get the okay to work out (just a week away now!) and between that and bf'ing, I should actually lose what I wanted to pre-pregnancy. You're sweet saying its not big.. lol.. you should see it jiggle when I walk haha... I'm so not brave enough to post that evidence haha

My tummy looks exactly the same! I'm sure though it has to make you feel good to see the difference from when you came home from the hospital to now. I couldn't believe how much my stomach has went down. But it still jiggles stoo!:)

Oh for sure Fran, it looks ALOT better than when I first left the hospital haha. It went down really really rapidly, but then it seems like it just stopped getting smaller!!!!

Oohh, I just found this post... I'm always late to reply...sorry. :-( Am I too late to join in? :-)

Anyway, I was 120 lbs before I got prego and was actively working out. After I had my first child, I was able to get back to my original weight, but the lose skin on my tummy never tightened despite all the working out. I gained a total of 52 lbs with Bella, and now, I'm down 140 lbs. I may have lost a lot of weight (32 lbs), but I have 20 more pounds to lose.

Here is a pic of me 2 months before I got prego with Bella, I was about 117-120 lbs in this pic, and this pic will be my inspiration to lose weight because I know I was heavier when I was pregnant with my first child, and I was able to acieve this body again. I'm the one in the middle wearing a tankini...I had no guts showing off my stretch marks in my belly. hehe!

Then here's a shot of me with my cousin & aunt taken 2 weeks ago. They're both skinny and childless, so I feel huge when I'm next to them. I'm wearing black in this pic so it might not look as noticeable, but I HONESTLY HATE HOW I LOOK IN THE MIRROR RIGHT NOW.

Meghan, you belly look way better than mine. My stretch marks and that stupid linea nigra in the middle of my belly looks terrible! I had a go signal from my doc that I can start working out, so I'll start tomorrow. About my diet...Im not a healthy eater at all...I just looove chocolates that I can't live without it. LOL!

Thanks! ;-) Fran, my belly button became an outie too and sad to say, it never went back to normal. My tummy may get back to i's shape, but the loose skin, stretch marks and the dark line in the middle will never go away. My belly really looks yucky, trust me. I can't even look at it, it grosses me out. Unless I'll have a cosmetic surgery, which I won't do, it will stay yucky I don't know for how long. hehehe!

According to my scale today, I'm at 161. (That was at like 9:30 am... always lighter in the morning haha)

I don't know how.. I pack away the food lol.. well, some days. other days I barely eat.. I just eat when I'm hungry.. I'm still not watching it at all.. probably a bad thing.

Any of you other ladies who are bf'ing notice that you have a huge appetite sometimes? On our way back from Wyoming, I was soooooo hungry! This is horrible, what I ate: arby melt, ham and swiss melt, curly fries, 1/2 order of mozz sticks, a caramel kit-kat, and mt dew. Oh my gosh I was full for the rest of the day though! haha.. :)

Yes I completely agree Meghan, No doubt my next baby will be 100% breast fed.

I tried BF and she refused coz she was bottle trained. Then I pumped for 2 full months and my BP started getting real low everytime I pumped that the whole room would spin, so I just gave up. ughhh

Yes when I was BFing I would get so hungry. I read that you're supposed to have 500 extra calories a day. Now that I'm not I can start to get back a normal diet for me and get to running! Yeah! I will keep you guys updated. I'm still at 137! 12-15lbs more to go!

I had a pudgy belly before I gave birth.. and in all honesty.. my belly is flatter than it was before I gave birth.. there is no fat there anymore.. now its all skin.. before I got pregnant.. I swear I looked a couple months prego!!

Hey.. feel free to turn it into about you! Its weird, because I had finally come to accept my body however it was, and then after seeing my body after giving birth, it threw my body image through a loop. I have had to really sit down and tell myself that its okay... haha.. my next door neighbor had her baby 2 days ago, and she's freaking out about her tummy too... so, it is nice to have someone to go through it with!

And thanks for saying I look great.. I wouldn't go quite that far really.. good... yes.. good I'll say that much.. but not great yet.. haha :)

Hi ladies...ty Fran. Ok I just did my BMI and I'm 33.5 and that is not good...but I know my weight is out of control. So if I can get it to 21.21 or 22 I will be good for my height. Good thing for me is no PCOS and I'm still ovulating however we are on a ttc and not sure if we will be able to con't that news will come after the dh's surgery and some mths down the road. We have decided no IVF for us. Our risk of a successful IVF is down but we are ok with that decission. I just want to get this weight off and have more engery...tired of being tired. Now I don't get sick but I know I'm not healthy right now. The past few days I have been working out more and seeing my engery levels are increasing. I need to get a workout mat and some weights because of the dvd's I have now. DH wants me to be his bodyguard because I have been doing Billy Blanks (I have done this before) and I make him concerned about how "powerfull" my legs kicks are and punches...so I guess I'm going to open a body guard business soon. lol

I LOVE billy blanks!! I lost 17 pounds a long time ago doing one of his videos along with a richard simmons video every day. (laugh if you must.. i love working out with richard simmons.. haha.. he amuses me!)

Angela.. how tall are you? because you weigh less than I do.. and my bmi is lower.. and I'm short! I'm 5 ft 3 in and I weigh 168 and my bmi is 29.8 (just barely under the standard for obesity.. yikes!)

I've just decided I disagree with the bmi scale.. b/c it says at 145 lbs I'm still in the overweight category.. but I have to say I look pretty dang good at that weight! I have a DD rack on me :) lol...

I have to hit 140 to be in the normal range. (140 is my goal though)

At my best.. I weighed 120... of course, I was a C cup back then (i was 16 haha) and my bmi at that weight is 21.3. I suppose I wouldn't mind being there again!

I'd have to get down to 104 to be UNDER the normal weight hehe

omg richard simmons...that is crazy person...lol...sorry I'm not picking on you..but he is a lil bit too much for me. yes billy blanks is the man...love him...I have about 7 of his dvd's...love him.

The BMI scale is crap!!!! I hate it. Unless you are of slim build it makes you feel bad about yourself. Everyone is built so different and at few calculations puts you in a particular category! I think it is just crap! My dh is considered obese b/c of the BMI scale too! Whatever! If you feel good and are healthy that is all that matters. I just don't want the two of you to feel bad b/c this scale says something! Hugs to the both of you!!! :) SOrry about the venting!

lol Fran yup I dislike it myself and you can vent anytime love. I was cursing out Billy Blanks yesterday but today I liked him. Shoot I was venting earlier and I never do that. I don't like doing that but it's my fault I'm this fat. But hopefully I'm on my way and will get on the right track this time. grrrrr...or it's lapo time for me then face life and boobs need to be lift also. I agree with the BMI thing.. I am 106LBS and just under 5 feet.. accoring to the BMI I am obese! I do not feel obese.. but at my thinest I was 85 LBS..and had a mild eating disorder.. can I still fit into my size 0's NO..but I feel and look better this way...

I feel good when I read posts like this. hehe! When I'm with my sister-in-law, I really feel huge! I've been actively working out now, but I haven't lost much weight. I think my metabolism is slow because I don't eat regularly, and I don't have much of an appetite now. Even if I don't eat but my metabolism is slow, I won't lose much weight. So, I'll start drinking Green Tea from now on...I'll see if it really works. I've been doing more crunches and toning up my arms, legs and butt. hehe! I just use the resistance band at home. I tried using the exercise ball but we live in an apartment and having that big ol' thing in here takes up a lot of room. The resistance band works pretty well. I just search for free workout videos in youtube. I sneak in at least 30-45 minutes of working out everyday. I do feel the muscles starting to tone up again in my mid-section, but the lose skin is still driving me nuts! Ugh! Only time can tell if it will firm up again. After I had my first, my skin on my stomach never came back to how it was.

omg Meghan, you and me both girl...I have a Richard Simmons workout dvd too and he makes me feel so energetic when I work out with him.

Yep, he's a nutter Angela, but really "pumps" you up when working out.

I also love the Billy Blanks dvd's I have the bootcamp ones and I sweat my bum off doing them too. I need to go to the store and buy a workout mat. My floors are hardwood so getting down on the floor really hurts. I lost like 6 lbs two weeks ago and then gained back like 2 lbs, I'm so aggravated. I just need to jump start the weight loss to get me motivated to stick with the work outs and walking. I hate my tummy, the pooch that hangs.ewwww and my thighs, J-e-l-l-o!!! lol

haha jello is a great adjective right now for my body. i'm trying to find ways to hide it all with the clothes i have in my closet.

once i get christian to sleep i'm going to try out my fitmama postnatal workout dvd.....

i have a billy blanks dvd and this crunch bikini body video that i like alot but i'm not ready for that intensity!!!! haha

i think one of the best tricks i've learned is not denying yourself cravings or foods you love, and to slowly work in healthy stuff and slowly work out the bad. the weight loss is a bit slower but in the end you lose more b/c it becomes a lifestle change. i also refuse to count calories b/c then you think about dieting all day and you end up feeling hungry with food always on the brain.

i have a tradition of getting chocolate and a soda when i go grocery shopping.. so i still did that this morning, so i'll just eat fruit for a snack later to even it out a bit, ya know?

Meghan....what I have been doing because it is so warm is not really eatting to much...I know it's not a great idea but also eatting more salads...or basically we are not cooking to much just snacking when we want to eat in fact Tuesday was really the first time we cooked a real meal chicken, rice and green beans and loved it. But overall just eatting light stuff salads, sandwicks and stuff like that and it helps. I have been drinking about half cup of diet coke per day. Mostly water...now off to workout with the Billy man!!!!!

I just worked out to my postnatal dvd.. and its very low intensity.. pretty much kicked my toosh.. so I'm definitely not quite ready for billy.. but i feel great for working out. There are 2 fat burn segments, a yoga segment, a pilates segment, and a cool down. Each one is ten minutes long. I only did one fat burn, and then did the rest.

Angela.. I LOVED the pilates.. I couldn't do a lot of the moves because my muscles are pretty weak still, but I LOVED them.. the moves seemed so easy and low intensity, but afterwards I could feel just how much they worked the muscles! It was wonderful!!!

I'm happy you like it...I have been doing pilates off and on for about 10 years now and love it...been doing yoga off and on about 20 years...one of my aunts got me into yoga as a kid and I love it. Really like Billy Blanks for him about now I think it's about 10 years ago. God I'm aging myself now. Keep it up Meghan because you will see it...the good thing about yoga and piltas your center is the same and the it forces your body to use your body to strenght it out. I know there is Yoga dvd's out there for mommie and baby...maybe look into it...

I like fruit but it's one of those things I have to get a taste for it. I don't know...you know I was a true veggie years ago and loved it. I would like to try it again. I was eatting rice and green beans with lil chicken (the dh cooked---omg he is a GREAT cook). Sometimes I have a taste for veggies...love my rice and paste...was on a rice kick for about a month...I think that was in May of this year...give the lil man a big hugs and wish the big man (dh) a happy day for him..if he needs it I will send him a big smelly wet fish for him to slap someone...sometimes we need to do that:))))

Hey Meghan! I am feeling pretty good so far. I am just over 23 weeks which is amazing to me. I was getting sore backs from sitting at work all day long but since I am at home and can do what I like I am feeling much much better! The babies are really kicking me now. Hard enough that I can see the kicks through my shirt. DH is so proud when they kick him. The look on his face is just priceless. He is one proud daddy!!! What about you? How are you coping with motherhood?

since you switch b/c you can get the spotting and plus your body can still be healing...I have been told that it does take your body several mths to heal....I'm thinking it's a combo of both. Now you know better about bd...right...wink wink:))))

I told dh I had nightmares after both times we bd'd that I'd gotten pregnant right away again. I'm terrified of having two in diapers at once!

Hey ladies, I want to share this with you...I just weighed myself today and I've lost 4 pounds since I last weighed myself 6 days ago. I didn't expect it...but here's what I did different. I've been drinking lots of Green Tea, 3 cups a day. Then I just watch my calorie intake and do some traditional work-out at home (like traditional crunches, leg raises, and traditional cardio). I just make sure that I don't eat any midnight snack after dinner. I've read stuff about Green Tea, I haven't tried this before...but I guess it does work with diet and exercise. I got so excited about the 4-pound weight loss. I hope I'll keep losing more pounds in the next couple of weeks. :-)

And oh, Meghan...about BD'ing...I know exactly what you mean, I've been going through the same thing. Before my 6-week appointment and after I had the okay to BD, we only did it only a few times, then I have not been in the mood for it lately. I also get nightmares that I am pregnant too!! And the weird part is--my hubby told me one morning too that he had a dream about me getting pregnant. So, maybe we both have this fear subconsciously that we are afraid to get pregnant this soon, so both of our sex drives have been affected because of it. hehe!

I drink mine hot most of the time. Sometimes I make 3 bags all at once, then put it in a pitcher and put it in the fridge. I wanted to buy the ones that were in big containers, but I've read that the tea bags are more effective...I'm not sure about that, but I'm using the tea bags now.

Oh Angela, don't be silly! ;-) I'm just hoping that the green tea is doing the trick, so far it is. You're right, Meghan. It does have a lot of caffeine in it. I make sure I take my last cup around 7 pm. I stay alert and active the whole day because of it. I'm no longer bf'ing, so I'm not too worried about the caffeine anymore. Ohh, pls. don't think I'm discouraging you about bf'ing. :-) I think I saw some decaf green tea at the store earlier when I went grocery shopping. Maybe you can try that one together with Tae Bo. Just make sure you won't knock yourself out like Angela did. LOL! Kidding! :-) hehe!

Oh Angela, I'm doing good. Little one is finally sleeping throughout the night--hallelujia! (Did I spell it right?? LOL!) She's taking a nap now, so I'll make this short reply before I start working on the dress that's due next week. We're leaving for Florida next weekend for vacation. I'm glad the weight loss came just in time. LOL! I have to knock on wood that I won't gain it back before then. I have a tendency of not resisting chocolates...I'm a chocoholic! YUM!!

UGH... I was at the mall today, and I saw 3 different women carrying around newborns, obviously much younger than Christian, and you couldn't even tell they'd given birth.. they had NO pooch at all, and were like half my size!!! It kinda depressed me a bit!!!!!
