Looking for cycle buddies...going with IUI this month (Sep 2009)

WP - did you mention these symptoms to your RE? I know that clomids purpose it to tell your brain to release hormones so your follies grow, so do you think that maybe it is causing too much of a hormonal imbalance for you?

How are you doing with metformin so far? I found it to me horrible, until I started taking a fiber pill once a day - it really helped calm down my GI issues.

The only s/e so far that I can for sure pin down is the blurry right eye and that is off and on. I mentioned it to my OBGYN before I took 100mg and he said he had never heard of it causing vision issues before. So basically I could not take it if I want too but he wasn't advising me not to.

I took that as an ok and after the doses were over all s/e went away. I have heard that the reason you get visual changes is because your pituitary gland swells a bit from having to produce so much hormone that it pushes against your optical nerves or something. So theoretically, once the swelling goes down the visual stuff should stop.

I was worried about it for a while but I feel like I have had enough experience with the drug and heard enough testimonials to feel like this is normal enough not to be concerned. I will try to remember to mention it to my RE on Friday when I see him. I don't know if he will be concerned or not but hopefully he will have heard of the complaint before so he will be more knowledgeable. If it doesn't work this time he was talking about adding an injectable to the 150 dose and trying that but I don't see why. If it didn't work then why use it? Maybe I should ask to do just injectables next time... I dunno what do you think?

I have been on the metformin before that appointment so all he did was up the dosage. I am tolerating it quite well. When I first started taking it about 2 months ago I took 500mg once a day for a week and then twice a day for a week until finally I was taking it 3 times a day and that is when I couldn't tolerate it. I have always thought that I needed more like 1500 cuz that seems to be the norm for it to really be effective. I will feel really dumb if suddenly everything works because he raised my metformin to 1700mg a day in two doses of 850mg each. lol. Like maybe I should have pressed my obgyn for that? lol

btw I keep posting long messages and I was just wondering if anyone is getting annoyed by that... as I am typing it out I am feeling like it is too long the whole time.

btw, thought your comment on Dr. House was so funny - I love that show and slightly agree that some of the best doctors that I have met, have had the worst bed-side manners!

I'm trying to not think too much, but I'm so nervous about loosing this baby. I know that I'm still so early, but with my HCG not rising like it should, the research does not look good. I guess what will be will be. If this does not happen I'm expecting that I'll have to take at least a few cycles off for these watermellon ovaries to settle down...

Well after that rant, I'm not going to think about it again until my tests come back Monday. Right now I'm just going to stay positive.

Poor kim you have my sympathy :( I know that you are worried. I read an article lately that was basically an interview with a woman who had infertility and got pregnant after 5 years and one of the questions was "Once you got pregnant were you able to relax" and she said that there was no relaxing even at the end because you could always loose it or have a still birth or whatever.

My advice (for what it's worth even though I have never been there myself) is to just enjoy being pregnant for however long it lasts. The disappointment isn't going to be any more or any less if you 'try not to get your hopes up'. We all are fully invested in this TTC stuff so trying to pretend we will be able to rein in our grief is a futile effort. There will be enough sad days in your life in general and possibly in the near future so why squash the hope?

Whatever happens you have your Husband and your Son and that is comforting. I know for me it is.

Thanks WP and you are so right, you don't ever stop worrying. With Mason, I had low progesterone, averaging around 14 to 17 for the entire first trimester. I did not go a day w/o thinking I could m/c at any time. I vowed not to do that this time around and am trying my best to just enjoy the moment and to follow your advice. Thanks goodness for all of my great friends here, thank you all for your support!

Hey ladies! The CD12 u/s yesterday morning actually went great!! I had three follicles worth measuring...the biggest at a 15! I go back tomorrow for another follow up u/s and then either a Wednesday or Thursday IUI depending on the progression of my follicles. I am HOPING for three mature ones...that would be AWESOME!!

That is great! What are the chances that all three would get fertilized?

TTC - that is great news!! Sounds like you will have at least two if not three that will develop! What are you on this month (sorry that I already forgot...)

Wishing, we have not heard from you in a while, how are you doing?

Well my heart has been stomped on for yet another month. I did not test as i am spotting and know af will soon be here in full force. I feel so sad. I feel that I am losing little piece of me every month why can't this just work. I don't know how many more months I can spend this much money, and am a little unsure if we can truly afford IVF. I spent yesterday with my 3 sisters whom don't know about my problems, have all said they will all be trying soon for babies! I don't know if my heart can handle that. :(

Hope that everyone is having a lot better day than I am.
