Long Period???

Hi Sunny,

For an HSG, they usually don't want you to be bleeding, simply because there's these sinuses of blood that are open (causing some of the bleeding) in which the HSG contrast (liquid) used can go into, making it more difficult to interpret the results and making it for you more prone to have a reaction to the contrast.

You could of had a "chemical pregnancy" that is now showing like this. Other reasons to consider would be endometrial polyps or uterine fibroids. Let us know how it goes and please keep us posted

Hello Dr. Q,

I cancelled my HSG because I am still bleeding on CD12. I do not have any pain, I'm generally only worried because I have NEVER had a period last longer than 5 days. My husband is more worried than I am and he wants me to see a doctor right away.

Since we are TTC & it's CD12(need to BD), am I going to ovulate within a couple days like normal? Or is my ovulation going to be delayed because my period is so long?

One more question...If my bleeding is due to hormones, which hormone or lack of is causing this prolonged bleeding?

Hi Sunny,

You may be ovulating pretty soon, and still keep an eye out by checkin with OPKs...Estrogen supplementation can help stop the bleeding, but you would need to talk to your doc about this...

sunny...my period is always on day 29, but ive been told by a different site that i cud of O on day8!!i always thought it shud happen around day 13-14 for me.but sayin this last mth i was 9days late,n ive never ever been late,so maybe its just catching up with itself,i started OPK this mth but started on day 10 of cycle im now on day 13of cycle n had negs,so just dont no,has this ever happened to u?avin a early O?

I have never been longer than one day late for my period.

As for O'ing early, yes that is possible, but then that would shorten my period, not lengthen it.

If you are 9 days late, you are either pregnant, or your O'd later, or you did not O at all......I hope it's the first one ;)
