Ladies who got pregnant with clomid!
July 06, 2008
How many rounds did it take you to get pregnant! I had a BFN with my first round and I am kind of discouraged! I need some inspiration! I do ovulate on my own and am taking clomid as a boost!
Hi Janet
I have taken 3 rounds of clomid at 50mg days 3-7. Unfortunately I have not conceived. Had an ultrasound last month before ovulation and showed 3 good sized follies. This posed a dilemma as we do not really want multiple preg, and 3 would cause a risk to my health as I am 39. Therefore as I do ovulate by myself we have decided to stop taking the clomid this month. We are going it alone. I will not miss the painful periods I must say!!! But just cos it didn't happen for me does not mean the same for you, there are lots of women out there that clomid works for!!
Good Luck, and hoping to see your BFP soon. xx

Congrats Lisa!! Just out of interest did you ovulate on your own previously or not? Now I am on day 4 and I am umming and arring about whether or not to go another round of clomid, dh is really against it tho, as we really do not want 2 or more babies. I always oooh and ahhh when I hear people are having twins but we do not think that it would be for us. Also my doc told us that the clomid does not help the eggs to mature, which confused me a bit esp after reading your post above. Are you having one or two?? xx
Hi Suzi
We are having one. The chances of having twins on clomid is only like a 10% increase- so it's really not that much. I was not ovulating on my own-atleast I hadn't been since I had a D & C done due to miscarriage last June (2007). Prior to that miscarrige I must have ovulated on my own-as I did get pregnant- that time without even trying! The dr. thought that maybe my body just needed a boost to get back on track- so it looks like it worked :) I am not sure about the relationship between clomid and mature follicules are- I only know that my dr. said she was going to increase my prescription to 50mg to get them bigger.

Thanks Lisa. I got pregnant with Number 1 in 2003 without help. Then had a miscarriage in 2006 and 2007. I have been ovulating by myself but just not getting pregnant since last miscarriage, however I have to keep reminding myself that while we have been ttc in total for 2 and a half years, it is only 6 months since ttc after last miscarriage. So really we are well within the time limit of normal triers!!! Oh well onwards and upwards, must keep on trying! Good Luck with your pregnancy Lisa. xx
Janet - I am on my 2nd round of clomid - just finished taking my last pill this morning. i hope it works this month. I am not too sure that clomid is the drug for me though - i got cysts last month and i heard that it can be a result of clomid. I go in for an u/s on Saturday - so we will see how it goes. Good luck
I have PCOS and we had been trying for about 5-6 months before I found out that I have PCOS and wasnt ovulating on my own at all, so never could have gotten pregnant during that time.
So they put me on Clomid. I did 5 rounds.
Rounds 1&2 @ 50mgs went great as far as ovulating and great progeterone levels and such. Round 3 @ 50mgs, not so great on ovulating. I didnt ovulate, so I had to get my period induced.
Then came round 4 @ 100mgs, ovulated great and progesterone level great, and got pregnant but miscarried @ 5weeks pregnant.
Then came round 5 @ 100mgs, ovulated super late because I took it immediately after Round 4 and the miscarriage and the miscarriage through my cycle really out of wack. I ovulated on CD31 of that cycle and im currently 20weeks 5days pregnant.
Best of luck sweetie. Some people it takes a few rounds, but I hope you get it ASAP!
Lots of love!

One round of Clomid did the job for me (50mg, days 3-7). However, I was ovulating on my own without it...it was just given to me as a "boost" as I had been trying for 10 months with no luck.
At my first u/s (I think it was at 8 weeks), they identified my little bean along with two yolk sacs. This means that I had originally conceived twins with the Clomid, but only one opted to stick around. Apparently this is quite common (1 out of every 8 pregnancies), even w/out Clomid, so I just considered it a natural occurrence.
Two weeks ago I gave birth to my beautiful little Clomid baby. It truly is a miracle drug.
