Any mitochondrial disease is inherited mother to offspring...and pretty much never from the father

We have just found out that my husband may have Kearn-Sayre Syndrome which is a mitochondrial disease. The Dr that we talked to said that it is passed from mother to child & does not appear that it is passed along from the father. I have been reading a little on the net today & one study said that it is not an inherited disease & another seemed to confirm what we have been told in regards to it being passed down by the mother. Have you ever heard of this disease & what is your opinion on us continuing to TTC? Thanks.
