Caryn, at least you do not have to take the progesterone oil shots. They hurt like hell.

Well its still 10 days away, but my IVF meds just arrived.. and I opened the box, and OMG I have to say I am a bit overwhelmed with all of it
I got 3 boxes of Follitism, which I already placed in the fridge ( I did not open these boxes)
5 boxes ( 6 inserts in a box) of vaginal progesterone
Novarel HCG injection ( used this last month so I am comfortable doing this one)
Follitism Pen, OMG thats weird.. the pen came with only 5 needles ??
Some pain killers for after the retrieval
I start the lupron on 8/18.. I got only one small vial of that, I assume thats enough..
Really this is overwhelming.. I know I am gonna need help..

Lupon? does everyone have to go through that when going through IVF cycles? on the average how many times does it take? I hope not many,, my insurance only covers 3 cycles!
and I heard there's a huge chance of having twins?? What is the percentage and can you chose to have twins or not and what if they can be boys or boy and girl? Is there a way to chose those options? Thanks and good luck to everyone!! :)

ps.. wow this is intimidating and scary!! Just read the shots part again, wow, I have to go talk to my doctor again, I just went through the operative hysteroscopy and polyp removal to get ready for the IVF treatments, and I thought that was rough,,, I guess one battle at a time,,,
I got the HSS done but they didn't test for tubal damage or ovaries damage, are those tests necessary BEFORE the IVF treatments? Thanks everyone, have a wonderful weekend.

Its really not that bad. Its worth a few wks of shots to get that baby :) After the first few days, you'll be an ol pro! Tubal checks aren't necessary I believe b/c you don't need your tubes to be clear for ivf. I did have an hsg done tho..long b/f Ivf. Not sure on ovarian damage?? They do a baseline u/s check b/f you start....
Thank you Kelli, I'm so happy for you and happy that it took the first time?? WONDERFUL! CONGRATS!! Two perfect embryos and pregnant with one? Were you hoping for twins or is it standard procedure for them to put two in to make sure one goes to full term? I don't want sixtuplets or anything but wouldn't mind having twins, I am so excited and nervous at the same time. Thank you for sharing your info, so helpful and good to hear! CONGRATS AGAIN!! Pheew again good to know, (about the tubal checks) I thought my doctor forgot to do that, but since we planned on IVF's to begin with I guess he knows what he is doing, ;)

Thanks so much JBaby! We were hoping to actually transfer just one embryo..b/c we have a 3 yr old already. But doc recommended 2. We could've done just 1 had we had 7 or more embryos..but we had 3, so they opted to do a two embrie transfer!
