Hi everyone,

I have just returned from the doctors and have asked him to check me for PCOS (I have cysts on left ovary and have had irregular periods for 2 and a half years) and to check to see if I am even ovualting. He has said to me - He will test me for PCOS if not pregnant within 6 months and will check to see if Im ovulating if no pregnancy within 4 mon ths so I have to wait.

We have been TTC to 11 months b ut my partner has been told he has low sperm count and motility so IVF is our only option if his retest shows no improvement. His doctor also said that if we have to use IVF then they will need to know if I have any fertility issues also but my doctor will not test me for them yet. (We have different doctors)

I am in the UK, does anyone know how I can get a second opinion from another doctor (there is only one doctor at my practice) as I have to stay with my doctor due to the doctors boundries of where patients live

hun i think the best thing to do is if you can afford to go to a private clinic and get your tests etc sorted out....at least the initial tests to make sure you are ovulating, your hubbys sperm count etc etc then you can take those results to the gp if they are different from what he has told you....it does cost money and isnt cheap but its better to know where you stand if u r unsure about your gp then you can request to change within the area there will be other gp's who would take you on they cannot say no without gd reason....

i'll see if i can find some more info but in the meantime think about finding some private doc and find out costs!

stay positive hun im a cyster too no ovulation from who knows when and just completed 2nd round of provera and clomid. stating the 2ww now....not expecting any positive results

CJ, I asked Jia to help you on this one because she is dealing with some of the issues you are having. I go private that is what my dh and I do. Call around...you can go to the NHS website and find out what can be done. When did your dh do his sa? Do you have his results?

CJ I'm thinking about this more. If you have PCOS there are things that can be done by diet and excerise....plus there is another lady here Hope that has PCOS and it preggo and she knows what can be done.

Gd idea....oh yes, stay on a low gi diet this means no simple carbs like crice and potatoes etc stay...watch your diet and exercise but dont over do it....weight reduction increases chances of getting preggo with pcos upto something like 60%!

acupuncture is supposed to be very good too according to The Guardian paper....will come back with some sites later in the evening as i am at work right now!

yes that helps also...acupuncture and herbs helps. Get on eatting good food but watch your sugar...and those carbs...plus fish...

CJ we will help you as much as we can love...***babydust***

Thanks ladies.

As my doctor will not test to see if I have PCOS I am not sure if it is what I have or not but will defo try your suggestions just in case!

My partners sperm results were 100,000 with low motility although no figure was given. He has to see a doctor on Friday to arrange a re-test though so hopefully there is an improvement or something is found to give a reason as to why its so low

Try to get another dr via NHS or private care. Get in diet and excerise and look into asia therapy treatment for the both of you. Start taking vitamins that both of you.

For him get them to test his blood for FSH levels (if low he can take clomid and hcg to increase. if high you need to find out why and things can be done). It could be an infection also...get them to test his urine also. Now keep in mind a true sa results take about 2 1/2 mths to 3 mths for new sperm to be made.

Don't wait on this dr...I don't mean to be rude but it is your body and you need to take control of it....
