December 15, 2008
I am 32 years old and my husband is 33. We have been married for three years now and have been TTC for 3 months. I stoppped taking birth control in January of 2008, and had issues with irreglarity after stopping the birth control. In July I was diagnosed with PCOS which was confirmed with an O/S. I have a period every 2-3 months, and most likely do not ovulate. When I was diagnosed with PCOS my OBGYN wanted to put me back on birth control, but I said no because I wanted to TTC soon. She said to give it a few months then come see her again.
On December 3rd I had an appoinment with her and all she did was refer me to a RE. My appointment with the RE is on January 2nd. I am in the process of trying to get my insurance to approve converage for fertility treatment. They say I have to be TTC for 2 years before they will offer coverage!! They told me to fax all the test results I have so far and it will be under consideration. I don't ovulate, why wait 2 years!!! I need something to help me ovulate to even make trying a worth while effort!!
My hormone levels were ok, but my ultrasound confirmed the polycstic ovaries. My husbands semen anaylasis was normal. These are the tests my OBGYN had done before referring me to the RE. She gave me copies of all the paperwork. It was like she knew my insurance company wanted it. Hopefully my insurance will approve treatment. If they don't I might and try another OBGYN that can treat me for infertility, since mine doesn't. That way insurance will pay for it.
I'm anxious to start treatment soon. I'm hoping to be prescribed clomid and metformin together. I hear the combination of the two in women with PCOS has the best results.
Bottom line, I've been on this site for a few months now and made a few friends and learned a whole lot. I am staying positive about beginning treatment and I am confident it will work FAST!!! I'm so ready and so is my DH. Wishing all of you .....
