Janumet

April 20, 2008

Hello

I have PCOS and I'm a diabetic Type 2 as well. My endocrinologist placed me on Janumet 50/500mg last week and I just would like to know will the metformin help with my PCOS and infertility? Also I haven't had a period in 2months.

Thank You In Advance

Hi there

Metformin in a large study by itself wasn't found to be very efficacious in causing a pregnancy...In fact, one should strongly consider being on Clomid to help them ovulate with or without metformin..Talk with your doc more about this and if you're having bad symptoms, have liver/kidney problems, Ashlee's advice is good..

Good luck, and keep us posted..

Hi Dr, is Metformin good to take for General Health if u have PCOS, along w/ clomid when ttc?

thank you Dr. Well I'm just on Janumet for diabetes but any help with my path to BFP is welcome. But now I'm really concerned about Metformin...I really don't need any problems with my kidneys or lungs or anything else
