IVF and E2 level

Hi Dr. Q

I went in for E2 and U/S today after 9 nights of stimulation. Things seem to be going well: around 17 follies (there may be more that are really small which they didn't measure) varying in sizes from 16mm down. Was taking 150 Menopur, 150 Follistim with 5 Lupron. Then Follistim was cut in 1/2 for two nights. Today my E2 went from 953 on Thursday to 2193 and Follistim was cut out completely. Is there a point where the E2 can get too high or as long as it is consistently going up it's ok? How are things sounding to you? I am starting to drink some Gatorade, any other suggestions? THANKS!!!

Wow, Jen, you are well on your way. Hyperstimulation occurs at around 3000 level of e2. Sounds like you are almost ready to trigger..so hopefully it doesnt happen. I personally didn't. It probably won't jump as much either b/c you dropped follistim. As fas as I know, gatorade and water can help. Great advice to get from Kan as she did hyperstim during ivf.

Good luck with all!

Thanks Kelli, I hope you are doing well :O) Do you remember how high your E2 was?

There's many variables that one needs to take into account to determine who will develop OHSS, granted those with E2 levels > 4,000 pg/mL are at increased risk...

If you were told to stop follistim, this is called "coasting" which is sometimes done to help prevent OHSS when there's a severe risk of it developing
