Oh and if you were to do an injectable cycle..they monitor you by u/s and bw every other day or so..and tell you how much to inject. Typically its with a pen that you dial to the number they rx..its so easy. Goes in the tummy, real small needle. When ready they will have you take a trigger shot in the bottom on an evening most likely and you will have your iui about 35/36 hrs later.
IUI COST
July 23, 2008
I was wondering here in california what is the average cost we do not have insurance that would cover it what so ever, but I wanted to see what is the whole process will I have to have blood test before actually starting the IUI I wanted more less a total cost with injections/ ultrasounds and everything if you are able to give me an estimate. and just a breakdown of the process before IUI
Mommy...I am in California, and I have insurance on the iui part but not on some of the medication. The IUI without insurance is $250 each time, and they do it 2 days in a row, so that would be $500 for one cycle, most RE's put you on clomid first, and if they do then clomid is about $30 I think, you would take that cd 3-7, and the doctor will monitor your eggs, I am nt sure how much doctor visits cost, they vary, so you would have to ask the doctor's office, then they will do the iui when the follicles are the right size, 2 nights before the procedure you will have to take an injection of ovidrel, which at Target pharmacy costs about $80.
If you decide to do iui with injectables the injections are more expensive. Instead of taking the clomid you would do the injections, and when I did them I had to give them to myself for 9 days. Depending on your dosage, you may need up to 4 or 5 boxes. A box costs $300, and not all pharmacy's do it, so you may have to order it online, and also you will have to get another ovidrel trigger shot.
Where are you in California?

I am in Orange County. I am on clomid already I really do not want to do injectables but if I have to I will. But the clomid it working we just are thinking because my hubbys sperm count is 199.5 million I just was worried because the time it takes his sperm to liquify was at 60 minutes so that is high according to my doctor. So this month if we dont get pregnant I want to do IUI

As far as iui process..you take in the sample of sperm or dh can do it there. They wash it...and typically are done in an hour or two. You get on the table and they insert a speculum just like a pap. They thread a tomcat catheter and push the semen up..you lay for 30 min..and done! Super easy!
Good luck!
