I have a luteal phase defect and low progesterone. After trying to conceive for over a year and a half and being unsuccessful on Clomid by it's self my doctor told me he wanted me to continue on the Clomid but also start taking Provera on CD 20 of my cycle and continue it for 10 days. I begin spotting an entire week prior to my period starting and my doctor said that it would correct this and keep me from "losing my lining before the baby can implant." However, when I went to pick up the prescription the entire bottle of Provera is marked with warnings telling me to not take it if I could be pregnant. I've searched and searched and everything I find says that Provera should not be taken for this purpose. Should I go back and question my doctor about this?

Although the risk is minimal, Provera may be Ok to take after ovulation if given by your doc. There are other prescription Progesterone supplements which may also be taken and ask your doc about these, especially the suppositories
