My Hubby & I are doing IVF right now...With all the tests we had to do, medications & the procedure itself we spent $20,000.00...Our Insurance doesn't cover any infertility stuff! Another procedure that can be done is called and IUI, this is something I've just learned about, and they actually take your husbands sperm and "process" it in a way to make it more "concentrated" for lack of a better word. You are given a course of injectibles to induce ovulation and help a pregnancy "stick" if you were to concieve, and the sperm is inserted up into the uterus/near the tubes (somewhere in there) with a catheter. This procedure is more affordable.. around 1,000 or so each try..

You will most definitely have to have your husband's sperm count tested, and they will probably do some hormone screening blood work with you. If your husband's sperm count is normal, and you have no physical reasons why you aren't concieving (blocked tubes, etc) then the doctor may suggest trying clomid or something similar to make sure you ovulate before trying something as expensive as IVF.

The infertility center that we're going to has a program called "Success Guarantee". You have to pay a little more up front for additional testing & to qualify, but the GREAT part is that if we don't end up prego @ the end of our cycle. We get a certain percentage of our $ Back.
