I am soooooo upset!
August 21, 2008
I am so upset and at the moment feel like giving up my dream. I had an appointment with my doctor today to discuss more aggresive treatment since I did 3 rounds of clomid to no avail. I did respond very well to clomid as I had 4 mature follicles each time. In fact my doctor did an ultrasound today and told me that i have cysts due to hyper stimulation. I told him that I want to move to IUI and he did not encourage me at all. He said that I have unexplaine infertility since all is well with me and my dh and iui is not really going to improve my chances considering that my dh's last sa showed 66million sperm count and 75% motility. He told me that I should give up my dream because I am getting obsessed and stressing my dh and ds. I am so upset. He told me that most probably I will not be able to do iui this cycle because of the cysts because they have to go away in able to take clomid. He told me to have an ultrasound on cd 1 to check about the cysts and then proceed from there. He told me to think twice about the steps I am taking because as if it was for him he won't do what I am doing. I don't know what to do! Please give me your opinion!

they saw them on day 3 when i went in to get my u/s to start injectables again. COuldnt start them due to the cyst and left in tears.
some ladies get preggo with cysts, it can happen but harder to figure out when we ovulate cuz the cyst can give off hormones that confuse us.... you may ovulate later in your cycle with a cyst. How did they know you had a cyst, u/s for you janet?

AF can be late cuz of cysts but not always. They just go away on their own, almost always but sometimes they wont and then you can take b/c pills and they will be gone. I just waited for mine to go away and by CD 1 of the next cycle they were all gone and started up the meds and IUI again, no problem. Keller on here took b/c pills for 1 or 2 weeks and then hers were gone and she started up with injectables again and got preggo that cycle. Lots of us had had them but normally with injectables not clomid. How much are you taking? The CM could be a problem even if you are using pre-seed so I would think an IUI would be a great thing, maybe with injectable meds instead. Maybe you had great looking mature follies but they werent in good shape.... he has no idea.....
sometimes when cysts you can have a fake +OPK tho cuz of what the cyst gives off.
Im under the impression taht a cyst is a follie that didnt ovulate and just became a cyst instead but not really sure on that..... thats why sometimes in a cycle that you had 5 follies and then you ovulate and have 2 cysts then you just ovulated 3 of the follies instead of all 5.

Janet: I'm sorry to hear you're going through this.....it's never nice a Doctor telling you to give up on your dreams, if he/she can't help find another ObGyn or perhaps an RE, don't give up on your dreams because there's always a solution.
You should repost this as a question to get a better chance of a Dr. responding to it. Another tip: in the title don't address them directly :) but put a very specific title like "IUI and Unexplained Infertility" and then post your question, and i'm sure a Doctor will pick it up...
good luck and hang in there!

Chance doctors immediately! Unfortunately, there are lots of docs out there who have lost their compassion and don't want to take the time to investigate further.
Of course, the vast majority of doctors are good, and want to help. However, there are some who take their positions for granted and don't really care about their patients. They just want to prescribe something and get rid of you.
I can't stress enough: Find another doctor who will listen to you and give you proper treatment. GOOD LUCK!

Hi Janet, I don't have much advice on the IUI but I can say that it was super unfair for your doc to say give up! Whatever...it's your dream to have a child and you go right ahead and want and want until the cows come home! :) He should be encouraging you! I'm sure the stressing isn't helping b/c that can really mess with your cycle, but you can't tell someone that! You as a doc should be positive! Please take care and I hope you really get your dream! Tons and tons of baby dust!

Clomid could be making your lining thin or your CM hostile and if you CM is hostile then the IUI would be a great thing to do. Talk to another doc hun, dont let him be such a downer.... :(
