I am pregnant and dr gave me Augmentin 625mg to take

I am 9 weeks and I started to spot some light bright red color now its brown with mucus (Sorry tmi), I did and ultra sound and the baby looks fine and also a blood test which came back normal, my dr said its just and infection I have and perscribe Augmentin to me and told me to take it for 5 days, is this safe to take because I have notice these dr don't explain anything to you and doesn't answer your questions at all, this is a community hospital I went until my appoinment to see my private gyno.
