hyperthyroidism and pregnancy

May 28, 2008

I have had a throid issue for over two years untreated and did not know I thought I was just tired. Well went to the Doc and finally they tiold me I had a hyper thyroid with a toxic goiter after tons of tests well i go in for surgery this week friday and they are removing half of it along with the goiter. My question is afterward will I be able to concieve? I just turned 25 and I have a healthy 6 year old but my hubby and I have tried for over a year and nothing my doc said it was because i had a serious untreated thyroid problem and I had 48% of t4 or toxin in my body. So he said after i am better and everything is normal i will be able to conceive like the mexican connection what ever that means is this true? I want another baby so bad is it possible I will?

Welcome Chrissy!

After your surgery, you may need to be on medications to have a normal thyroid levels in your body and shouldn't have trouble conceiving solely on this basis...
