HSG and tubal reversal
September 05, 2008
I had a tubal reversal in March 2007 with conclusion that both tubes were open , i had my first HSG in dec 07 and showed one tube open and the otehr one blocked , i had a very scary and heavy period that month afterwards , the dr told me that i should have no problems getting pregnant within 6 months ...well here it is Sept 08 , no positive tests AT all i had a pap smear done it came back positive for a bacteria infection , i took 7 days of strong anitibotics and then a 3rd test showed up all negative , so that is all healed up , I had another HSG on Sept 4 and it showed both tubes blocked then second injection there was a spill from the same tube as before I have been on clomid 50 mg from Jan until March then I was put up to 100 mg which i take now days 3 - 7 , the dr said it was a small spill but it still came out ...should I put all my hopes in this tube or should i try for surgery to repair the blocked one?? or is there something i am missing ...and should just save up for IVF ...my dr's are not giving my any info on this matter and it is getting frustrating and help would be wonderful
Hi Becky, I had a tubal reversal in April 07. I only had one tube repaired as I only have one ovary....had an hsg in Oct. 07 and tube was open. Tried clomid, and did a round of injectables, still not pregnant. Going to keep trying but going to start trying to save for ivf at the first of the year. Baby dust to us all!
I had 6 cm on one side and 7 cm on the other side and both were open at the time of surgery but i think the infection that I had caused my blockage i think i am going to stop taking the clomid for awhile to give my body a break ...i should be ovulating anytime today is suppose to be day 1 , and i have been having a lot of cramping since my HSg and my fault my HSg was on Sept 2 not the 4th
Hello, I am very sorry you are going through this. I don't usually recommend tubal reversal for this same reason. Sometimes the tubes are open but not functioning. I would save my money and do IVF... you would probably have a very good success rate and you would have some embryos left over so that would help as well.
I got a call today from the fertility clinic that I have been dealing with and apparently my day 22 blood test for progestrone was 3.7 !! is that normal I thought it should be over 10 at least ..i am on 100 mg of clomid and the nurse agreed and thinks that I might not even be ovulating ??? is that the reason for it being so low i am going for another test day 21 on Fri too see if any higher

I am new to this board but I wanted to reply to your question above. I had my TR in March 2007 as well. They were only able to reconnect one tube. My dr had me try on my own for 6 months then we did an HSG. That HSG showed a polyp blocking my only open tube. I had surgery to remove it and I got pregnant in March 2008, but soon miscarried. The good news is that I DID get pregnant!!! After the miscarriage we decided to start being a little more aggressive. I started with 50mg Clomid on the first cycle and second cycle. When that didn't work my dr increased the dose to 100mg. Again, nothing. Last month I went on to injectables. I had a great response to Follistim. We did an IUI last Tues and now I am in the 2ww. There are a lot of options out there and you need to find a dr that will discuss those options with you. There is hope!!! Let me know what you decided to do!
