How soon can we start TTC again after miscarriage?

So my doctor says to wait 3 months before ttc again, and that until then we should use protection.

The INTERNET has all kinds of opinions, ranging from try right away, to waiting 6 months.

I saw a post on here where Dr. Q implied that it really doesn't make a difference....

So which is it? How long should we wait before trying again (chances are, given my history, that even if we start BDing today we still probably won't be pregnant for a year...lol)

Thanks for your responses.

Dani... First off I want to say that Im sorry again for everything that has happened.

2nd.. Its always best to follow ur drs protocol. Some drs feel that ur chances are better if u start to TTC again right after a M/C but then others think its best to wait a few months for ur body to heal physically and emotionally.

I would go with ur dr though. Only because he knows ur medical history and what is going on with u.

Good luck and I hope that u get that BFP again soon. Plz keep us posted =)

Hi Dani

From someone who has been there too (at 5 weeks last month), I know the waiting is the worst. I was told by my Dr as long as my levels were back to negative and I was emotionally ready we could start trying again. We have been trying this month and are now in the 2 week wait period. If you need to talk please feel free to contact me.

Bu I do agree with Katie, Your Dr knows best and you should listen to him. After all we are all different right LOL. I know the frustration though as we have been TTC for 18 months.

I agree with Katie, one full cycle and being ready again is what i would go with. only other certain circumstances should one wait as long as 3 months or more...i had to wait 3 months becuz i had a baby in my tube and was given a medication that depleted my body of folic acids...very important to have for pregnancy and a healthy baby, so getting pregnant too soon after couldve done me worse...They say 3 months is about what it takes for healthy amounts of flic acid to rebuild. Also i think a loss after the 1st Trimester docs like u to wait 6 months or more...guessing cuz its a lot more on your body...Sorry for your loss hun and Goodluck when you start TTC again :-) (((hugs)))
