How much will a back to back IUI increase my chances?

It's even unclear whether back-to-back IUIs are better than a well timed IUI

Does an IUI in general boost your chances of getting pregnant? If so by how much? I've heard that without any IUI it's 15-20% a cycle. I'm not sure how accurate that is though.

My RE will not due a back to back. He feels they are better with one well timed shot!

Thanks Abbykat but the way I figure it is, if the first one is well timed and the second is a back up, it can't hurt things. I mean it's still more sperm right!?

I say the more the merrier!! From my experience, I did benefit from the b2b iui's because when i went in for my first iui, i still had not ovulated (confirmed via u/s) so they had me come back the next day (an u/s confirmed that i did ovulate) and they gave me the second. since there is really no way to know the EXACT time i ovulated giving me b2b iui's allowed them to catch both sides of ovulation.

i hear that catching ovulation 6 hours before or 6 hours after gives u a better chance of conception. since i was lucky enough to catch both sides of ovulation i feel like i doubled my chances!!

i also had two mature follicles so i am praying that both produced eggs...I go in on Thrusday for my beta!!

p.s. i had a trigger shot 48 hours prior to the first iui so it took me longer than than norm to ovulate even with the trigger!!

The one thing that you have to consider is the quality of sperm. If counts, morph or motility are an issue at all then a 2X is not the way to go. I have seen many women have success so have it girls! The best of luck to you!

You should ovulate if you are triggering. IUI will only work if you ovulate

What if I ovulate later then expected and the IUI's are done too early? Do you think they will keep doing them until ovulation is confirmed or just stop at two?

I was worried about that too Nancy but TRUST me you will ovulate!!

I dont think they will do a third...it might be to risky for one cycle but i am not sure on that. Maybe one of the doctors can give you a more educated answer.
